Acer Monitor Not Staying On

Hi there, my acer 22 inch flat screen monitor is having problems staying on. When switched on it stays on for about 20 minutes then the screen goes blank (the switch light stays on). If I switch it off and on again it stays on for about 15 minutes then the same thing happens. If I keep switching it of and on again eventually it won't stay on for more than a minute. Any ideas? Thankyou!

Hi,

It sounds like there's a problem with the monitor itself. It may be that the lamp in the computer is dying, which would explain why it keeps going out. Other possibility is that the monitor isn't receiving power properly either through the cable or inside the monitor itself.

If your're not the kind of person who wouldn't mind opening the monitor up and hopping in there, then I recommend you take it somewhere it can be diagnosed like Best Buy.

Hope I helped :)

I Have a ACER X223WBD the lamps kept shutting down. The power light would stay blue but the the backlight would turn off. I replace the cfl power supply and the same thing. I CHANGE THE CFL BULBS AND THIS FIX THE PROBLEM. The bulbs are causing some sort of short causing the protection circuit to shut down the backlights.

There's a few things to look for. Maybe you are not getting signal on the cable you are connecting to the monitor... one reason for that would be dedicated graphics card and you are connecting to motherboard graphics. There is always the possibility that the monitor is faulty.

My acer flat screen monitor will not come on. My mac mini starts up, but the screen stays dark. Last week, it was staying dark after the computer went to sleep; I couldn't "wake it up." After a few...

I will assume that you have checked out the power cables and external cables. If this is the case you will usually notice an indicator light from your monitor. Universally it is yellow or orange when it has power, then turns green when it detects input from your computer. If the Led light doesn't turn green even when your laptop is already booted, your culprits would be your iMac's video controller or your monitor's input cables.

Acer monitor won't stay on

That looks like an inverter problem. If the monitor is still under warranty, contact the manufacturer (3 years for both parts and labor if purchased new). Otherwise, open up the back of the monitor and remove the shielding. Look for scorch marks, soot or leaking or bulging capacitors (look like cylinders on tripods). You could just replace the capacitors and the resistor that acted as a fuse. However, for $50-150, depending on the inverter, you can replace the entire part (unplug the wires for the backlight(s) and other connections and swap them).
You can also check the inverter by looking for the high frequency EM put out by the unit. Some high end multimeters will measure this (as will an oscilliscope). Hold the multimeter probes a fraction of an inch apart about an inch above the board (with the multimeter set to read frequency). If the inverter is good (and the frequency is reasonably close to the multimeter's range) you will see either a 1 or a value (kHz). If the inverter is bad or too far out of range, you will see a result near zero.

Once you have the monitor open, record the part number on the board with the damage, including the REV number if any. Search that part online (lcdparts.net and other sites have parts for monitors). Get the correct unit if possible. Some sites sell universal inverters and those can be used. However, you may find the controls reversed (up to lower brightness).

I hope this helps.

Acer AL 2017 Monitor

I just repaired one.... will likely require that you replace 3 X 220 uf 25 volt capactiros and 2 X 1000 uf 25 volt capacitors. can't miss them the tops are swelled up. but the monitor appears to work now... not bad for 5 bucks worth of parts.
