Water in bottom

Do I put water in the bottomof my 18qt Nesco before I put in the insert?
the reason I ask is that the ifrst time I used it I roasted a 20 lb turkey. It turned out great but the insert pan got bubbles on the finish and i was wondering if I did something wrong.

I think it will depend on factors such as the type of bone and the reason you want it cooked.

I think asking an experienced butcher will be your best option...

Where can I get a replacement lid?

My search... (wow)

Hello Tommy Calvin,

According to my search... the only way you are going to get a lid is by buying a spare unit off of eBay.

Everywhere I am looking there is a trail of weeping (FAITHFUL) customers looking for spare parts... perhaps you have found your retirement niche (DISMANTLING & PARTING OUT...

WAIT.. . (struck out @ searspartsdirect.com)

For less than $44 you can get a new on at WALMART...
I only saw WHITE... but then again ... have a look!!

Hope this helped (inspired at least).

Water between insert and roasting pan in Nesco electric roaster?

Putting water BETWEEN THE BASE AND THE REMOVABLE PAN *is like putting water in your crock pot before inserting the porcelain dish and lid. This is dangerous and will destroy the unit. Those who answered "Yes" do not realize that the ? relates to putting water in the electric heating element portion of the pan... DANGEROUS!
