After 18 months of good operation operation, our Sony KDL-32m3000 suddenly started oversaturating colors (particularly red) and blurring/smearing motion on the screen
This is the third time this issue has occured in the last month. The two previous times the picture snapped back to normal after an hour or so.
This occurs on all signal inputs we've been using (OTA channels and DVD input via HDMI and Video). I've tried adjusting the picture via the on-screen menu, unplugging the TV for 5-10 minutes, resetting the TV via the menu and resetting using the remote up arrow/tv power switch. None of these actions corrected the problem.
This looks like a problem similar to one yave_d reported on May 16, 2009, but I don't know if he found a solution.

@circuitworld: You claim in your profile that you repair plasma and LCD TV's, but you just told someone with an LCD to replace the convergence IC's and linear buffers. First off, convergence IC's are in rear projection TV's not LCD's, and the buffer boards are in plasma's, again, not in LCD's
@gardenwc: Typically what you are experiencing is a bad video controller or an actual faulty panel, the latter of which is not cost effective to replace.

Logic board? Are you referring to the Main PCB (BU board I think). This issue is caused by the Timing Control board (T-CON). It’s the board directly on the panel that connects by LVDS cable to the Main PCB. Not sure if it’s a part you can purchase separate from the LCD panel, but give it a whirl… you never know. I hope this was of some assistance.
