You must install its chipset and drivers , most laptops will come with a bunch of cds have a look through them and find the driver cds, and install away. if no good goto the support site for your laptop and navagate to the driver download area and choose your system, put all on a usb key or just even the wireless card and install to laptop, or just burn them to cd once you have your wireless card installed you can do rest from net. or even better just find the driver cds that came with it and job done. hope this helps

My hp dv6000 pointing device is not working correctly it goes crazy when i try to use it

This mouse touch pad is very sensitive to outside devices.
If you are using any external devices, disconnect them and try the fallowing.
Go to your device manager and find mouse or pointing devices and remove them.
Save and reboot the unit.
The unit will find the correct drivers which are loaded on your hard drive under SWsetup.
After loading the drivers and the unit has settled into a idle mode, reboot the unit and check the operation of the mouse-touch pad.
If this has taken care of the problem, load whatever devices you were using, one at a time.
If you notice the mouse starts acting up, it will be one of the external devices you have connected.
If the mouse still does not correctly and you are not using any external devices, you may want to disable the mouse-touch pad and hook up a USB mouse. ( Standard or wireless ).
I hope this has helped you.

Touchpad

When the touch pad stops working it's one of three things. 1- A driver glitch, unistall the touch pad drivers from the device manager, then reboot. The machine will find the touch pad and reinstall the drivers automatically. 2- The touch pad connector has worked loose. Take the palm rest with the touch pad off, disconnect the cable, clean the connectors, and reseat the cable firmly. 3- the touch pad has failed and will need to be replaced. The driver glitch is the most common, I believe that it should take care of the problem. Let me know.

Touch pad driver.

Uninstall the driver from the device manager, then reboot. The machine will find the touch pad and reinstall the drive automatically. If this doesn't work, check the touch pad connection, they will sometimes work loose ar get a little dirt/corrosion build up. The connection is under the keyboard. At this point, if it's still not working, then it has failed and will need replaced.

Touchpad

This may be a simple driver glitch. Try uninstalling the touch pad drivers from the device manager, then reboot. The machine will find the touch pad and reinstall the drivers. The touch pad either works or it doesn't, there's no in between, so if this doesn't work, then I'm afraid you'll have to replace the touch pad.
