Wrong Color Sticks in printer

Apparently someone put Phaser 8400 ink in my 8500. I've tried to pull the ink out w/ a screwdriver, but since they were wedged in there, I can't get a good grip on them. Is there another way for me to open up the housing to take out the sticks so I can get this printer back up online? It threw a fault of 07,010.43:6108, and I'm thinking it's because of the ink.

Thanks.

Just as an fyi, it threw a 07,007.10 fault as well. I did remove all the incorrect ink and took it apart but didn't see any errors. (Of course I'm still learning what to look for.) Is there any way to find a copy of the service manual for this machine? I checked Xerox's site, but no luck.

  • Milnesy Jan 15, 2008

No, it hasn't. Will this clear on it's own if it's left to it's own devices? Or will I have to pull apart the printer to fix it?

I normally suggest running a long wood screw into the ink block to move it back and remove. If it's wedged then gently breaking it and removing or vacuuming the pieces out is your option.
The 07,010.43 code has nothing to do with the ink sticks. Although the result of removing the ink with the printer hot may have caused it.
That code is caused from the print head not moving from home position to the printing position. That print head pivots back and forth on a shaft.
One of 3 things has occured.
1. Ink has spilled into the stainless steel print head block. That block is located on the lower left side of the frame, looking from the front of the machine. The most frequent cause of that code is yellow ink seeping into that block from the machine eing moved while hot.
2. If the machine was unplugged before it was shut down. The Drum wiper assembly may be stuck to the print head, between the drum and print head.
3. One of the cables that run from the print head to the circiut boards that control it, may have shifted and are holding the print head back.
To remove the ink holder where those blocks are, requires removing the right and left side covers, that is held in by some plastic tabs, and 2 electrical connectors.

Well that 07,007,10 tells me exactly what happened to caust the 07,10.43.

That 07007 is the wiper was stuck to the print head causing it not to move.

    Has that cleared yet?

A Service manual is difficult to get and expensive.

  • Anonymous Jan 15, 2008

Since the wiper is most likely stuck to the print head. You will have to take the covers off, remove the ink loader and look between the front of the print head and drum to see where the wiper is stuck. You should be able to GENTLY move the print head get the wiper to come loose from the front of the print head.

It will not come off by itself.

Not really difficult, but just take sure you go slow and be patient.

The wiper is a pink rubber blade that moves up and down the drum cleaning it between print pages. It will be tacked to the print head, but gently minipulate it off of the print head. You want to be sure the machine is off for a minimum of 20 minutes, that print head warms to over 340 degrees, Its a hot bugger.

You will need torx or a 5.5 MM nut driver for the screws.

Just be methodical and note how you remove things so you don't repeat replacing the parts and covers.

Also be sure you plug in those 2 connectors on the ink loader, so you don't have to take it back apart to take 3 seconds to snap one back in.

Been there and done it LOL.

in order, Remove the side covers, ink loader and that will give you access to the print head area that you need.

Xerox phaser 8500 ink sticks wrong shape

If the ink shapes are wrong on an 8560, it probably means that it was in the managed print version of Xerox - Someone was paying for prints, not for ink and the ink technically belonged to Xerox. Normal ink should fit fine and you should get your money back from the person who sold the ink (you will see the word "metered" on the box.

Xerox phaser 8500 error code 09, 038, 46:4597

Ink count sensor flags are stuck after melting 2.5 ink sticks. The following codes are recorded: 9,03x.41, where x= 5 for cyan, 6 for magenta, 7 for yellow, and 8 for black. (Your error indicates black ink loader failure)

Features on the bottom of genuine Xerox ink sticks actuate the Ink Out Sensor located at the forward end of each ink channel of the Ink Loader. The sensor indicates the passage of ink to provide a count of ink consumption.

Damaged or non-genuine ink sticks may not reliably actuate the sensors. This can lead to false Ink Out messages as well as Ink Stick count faults. Using 8400 model ink in a 8500/8550/8560 models will also cause 9,03x.4x ink stick count faults.
Ink Loader will need replaced and then diagnostics entered to run "Clear ISC Fault" test to clear the error.

Hi i have phaser 8560, it gives me a error 09,038,46:62248, plese who can solve me the problem.

Hi there
The onlty thing I can find close to this is.
Acording to the manual its a ink loader error like your loading the wrong type of ink like the puzzles pieces arent matching and hitting the sensor flags right. Yours by the 8 is referring to the black ink. Anyway go to troubleshooting on the control panel. then to service tools. when in service tools press and hold the up arrow while still pressing the up arrow press the down arrow. the display should say hidden menus. go to diagnostic mode press enter go to funtion menu. then go to clear ISC fault and enter. ISC=ink stick count fault. I hope that helps. Just to let you know Ive had nothing but problems with third party ink and once its in the system its hard to get out so I would watch what im doing with my expensive equipment

Xerox error code 09,038.46:350??

Hi. The error code you are referencing is referring to Black Ink Stick Count Failure.
  1. Make sure you are using Phaser 8500 ink sticks
  2. Make sure the ink sticks slide properly
  3. Remove any broken or partial ink sticks from the ink-loading bin
If the fault code is still displayed you will need to contact support to schedule a service call.

Error code regarding ink sticks on Phaser 8500

the .46 means the problem is with the black ink stick. What you can try is this. In the bottom of the ink loader, there is a small pressure switch, There is one in each color slot. Take a pencil, use the eraser side to slide all the way to the bottom of where you load the black sticks. Move the earser end around there to see if the that actuator is just stuck. Normally you just have a piece of an ink stick stuck blocking that sensor.
It is possible the ink loader will need to be replaced, but I honestly have never seen one fail.

Phaser 8500,

The best way to remove it is to run a screw into the ink stick and slide it up as best you can.
You can also use a screwdriver and gently break it up and remove it.
Just be as careful as can be. That ink loader is actually pretty tough.

PHASER 8500DN ERROR CODE: 09,038,46.8515

That is a black ink stick count failure.
It is not seeing the black ink stick.
See if a stick is broken or not in place. One may be twisted or just jammed.
Outside chance you would need an ink loader because the sensor is not detecting the ink
Check the black sticks see if you can clear it by moving them around or sliding them up and out and reloading.
