I don't know if any errors with red blinks for the 2844, but the printer will blink red five times if you power it up with the button held. Is the button possibly stuck down?
The fact if unplugged etc and tries to function means a micro related problem---if unplugging all units for a while does not change this then suspect a power supply or main board (controls all functions).
This usually means that your battery is not charging. Take the battery out and turn the computer on, plugged in only. Shut the computer down and then replace the battery. If the led light is still blinking red, it is time for a new battery. You can find a replacement battery on eBay for a reasonable price.
Two possibility , first the 1of the heat sinks may have lost it's thermal seal to the chips ie G.P.U. or C.P.U. this is more common when consoles are played vertically . Second but less common the G.P.U. temp feed connection has become intermittent and tripping a thermal shut down.
Remedy's are
Remove heat sinks for G.P.U. and the C.P.U clean off the old heat sink compound and replace with new ( articsilver 5 ).
If the console still over heats ( two red lights) then the G.P.U C.P.U will need to be re-flowed back to the board that normally corrects the problem in 90% of over heating problems.
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed Sceptre monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also. http://www.badcaps.net http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague
I have a Sony SRS BBE Trinitron (WEGA). The last few days when I tried to turn it on using the remote the Red Light would go on but the TV did not turn on. I would have to press the power button again to turn it on.. I tought the remote battery was just low.
Today when I tried to turn it on nothing is happening and the Red Light is blinking 9 times ??? I tried to unplug it and try it again, still does the same thing ???
IF it's blinking it's probably an error code. If you have the manual see if it says what it means. If not, post the blink sequence here, maybe someone knows what it means.
