LCD TV displays a green color in dark shadows and in places where colors should be yellow-ish (blonde persons hair, dark rooms, shadows on peoples faces, etc.)
This happens across different devices such as game consoles, dvd players, uverse tv service, etc.
I have checked the cables and they are all new, this happens on different inputs and it happens on both high definition video signals and standard definition video signals.
This happens on all types of connections (pc, component, s-video, etc.)
All other colors on the TV are perfect, whites, yellows, blacks, etc. In scenes where there is a lot of lighting the picture looks amazing and all colors (including green) look wonderful however sometimes shadows that I know should be gray or black have this green color to them. Actor's hair is also green in the parts where there should be dark shadows (really noticeable on blonde haired actors on screen)
I've searched online and this seems to be a problem with LCD Tv's. The first one I bought I returned and exchanged for a new one this last weekend and the same thing is happening so I know it is not a defective tv.
I have read online that there is some kind of a service menu other than the standard user menu which can be accessed via a series of button presses that grants the user access to tweak settings from the tv... I would like to do this to change the "green problem" as the standard user settings do not fix this problem (I've tried them all).
I do not know how to access the service menu or what to change once there.
Someone kindly please help as this is pretty noticeable and annoying.
IMPORTANT: The LCD Tv does NOT have a Green Tint across ALL of the picture... the picture looks fine it is JUST certain shadows and yellow elements look green (so you can have an idea think of the guys from mythbusters the tv show... their hair and beards are green!!!)
I have a Toshiba LCD tv model 32AV502R 32 inch 720p
I have an Xbox 360 connected to it via a component HD cable set up to 720p and At&t Uverse set top box setup via S-Video Cable standard definition 480i.
By the way, I also would appreciate suggestions on what the best options are for contrast, brightness, tint, etc. and what they do... Just general awareness of those settings.

Hi chris
You`re asking for a way to get into the service menu, you will find the way to do it below, but be careful to note the parameters values before you change them,
so you can always bring it back.
I believe you will find what you need under adjustment.
As to the best adjustment you asked for their settings in video menu. there is`nt really any best adjustment , its just a matter of personal taste.
Here is the service mode procedure.
1. Press the {MENU} button on the remote.
2. Highlight the "Picture" icon.
3. Press the {9} {3} {0} {1} buttons
on the remote control.
* The Service Menu will be displayed
with the following Modes:
"Options" - "Adjustments" - "Selections"
* Use the {OK} button to access and
navigate through these Modes.
* To change values use {VOL +} {VOL-) {P+} {P-}
* To exit, press the {MENU} button.
Hi Chris
Here is another procedure to get into the service menu(this should be the one).
*With the set on press and release "mute".
*Press mute again and hold the button.
*While holding mute press menu on the tv set and release both.
*You should noe have a "S" in the upper right corner of the screen, you are now in service mode.
*Press "menu" again and it will bring you the service items.
*Use the chan+/chan- to select items(in your case gcut/gdrv).
*Use vol+/vol- to change values(don`t forget to record them before changing).
Or in your case it might be the arrows up/down/left/right to change items and values.
*Turn power off to exit service menu.
Hope this will help.
Make sure you press menu on the tv not the remote.
And try mute /half mute and mute again, alternate between the two, sometimes it takes a few tries to get it right.

I followed the instructions on accessing the service menu precisely yet nothing occurred.
I simply went ahead and turned on the tv (with none of the devices turned on such as the xbox) and with the tv's remote control I pressed menu and moved the selection cursor up to what I guess would be the "picture" icon which is basically a little tv that allows you to select the video settings up top. I pressed 9 - 0 - 3 - 1 consecutively and nothing happened. It just stayed on that same screen with no sign of a flicker at all.
Were those the correct settings for my specific tv? I looked online and it appears that older tv's have different settings but I can't figure out which one is for me.
I just specifically want to reduce that green side affect that occurs all too obviously...
I read the CNET.COM review on this specific flat panel and they too point out that it has a slightly green problem (and also a blue one but I dont mind the blue) yet through calibration they were able to reduce it.
I've seen others alter the green so that it is not so obvious... I was just looking for guidance as to which option in the service menu would allow me to modify the green... but more urgently I need clarification on how to enter the service menu...
I appreciate the help however I was not able to enter the service menu using the provided instructions.
I wish it would have worked, unfortunately it does not bring up any 'S' anywhere on the screen.
All that happens is that the lcd tv shows 'mute' when I press mute the first time... then it mutes half way the second time I press mute and hold the button.. once I press menu on the tv set itself the menu pops up as normal... no S anywhere on the screen and I went ahead and pressed menu once again after I let go of both buttons and nothing...
Does my tv have a service menu? Do all tv's? Is that a standard feature?
I was able to get into what I think it is however it is a real pain to get in there and took me a whole day of playing with the control to get there.
I am attaching a screenshot of what I came across.
I went in here to each of the three temperatures (Warm, Medium, Cool) and I edited in there the setting (basically dropped it to 0) for G (which I imagine stands for green since there are three options: R, G, B)
I put that setting all the way down... yet it didn't really do much of anything.
I had an image of where that green effect is really noticeable on the screen and it didn't change at all.
It actually changes a little bit more using the user menu.
Could you guide me as to what I am supposed to do in the factory menu?
I see that there is an input that looks like a usb port on the side near the menu button thats labeled service only... and in the factory menu there is an option called source calibration... is there some kind of image or tool I could use to calibrate the tv to reduce the significant green shadows?
I was unable to do anything that would actually help my situation so I'm going to take the tv to compusa to get a professional calibration.
