Z4m printer will miss labels in jobs. I've saved the job in the spooler and if I resend the jobs the blank labels will print out so I know the job is good. Any suggestions welcome.

Check the label size is set correctly in the application. Try using a driver from Nice Label or Seagull Scientific websites to suit Z4M (Not Z4M Plus). Recalibrate the printer and try again. Remember to setup the driver correctly because the driver will override the printer settings.

Spooling error

What make and model printer ?
There are a variety of reasons why a printer may feed a blank page through. This is, in some cases, an error. In other cases though it is a mistake in the page count or a simple matter of the printer trying to maintain itself.
Maintenance If a user has just loaded new paper into the printer or if an error message has recently been cleared the printer may run a blank page through.
Usually this is to make sure that the print path is now clear and that the next sheet it positioned correctly for printing.
Page Count
When a document is edited there is sometimes a blank sheet left at the end of the document. So, for example, if a 10 page document is edited down to nine pages, the computer and printer still sometimes read it as a 10-page document when a user hits the print key.
Page Separator
In some cases where a large number of documents are being printed, users may set a blank page separator.
This puts a blank page between copies of a document to show where one ends and the next begins.
A quick look at the printer's settings or control panel will tell you if this option has been turned on.
Fix a Printer Spool Error
When you send a job to your local or network printer, the print spooler is what keeps track of that job's location in the queue.
If the print spooler is not running, your job will not be able to reach the printer, so it is important to know how to resolve print spooler errors when they occur.

Click on the "Start" button and choose "Control Panel" from the menu.
Double-click the "Printers and Faxes" icon and locate your printer.
Double-click on the printer to get the list of jobs in the queue.
If you see any jobs in an error status, right-click on those jobs and choose "Cancel" from the menu.

Close the "Printers and Faxes" window and double-click on the "Administrative Tools" icon. Choose "Services" from the menu.
Scroll through the list until you see "Print Spooler," then right-click and choose "Start" from the drop-down list.
This restarts your print spooler and allow your jobs to print.
Right-click on "Print Spooler" again and choose "Properties" from the menu.
Go to the "Startup" option and set it to "Automatic."
This ensures that the print spooler starts each time your computer does.

Is it possible for my Z4M printer to automatically rewind rather than going through the menu and manually setting it to rewind each time? It says saving permanent changes but I still have to change it for...

The best way to do this is to set the printer via software. This can usually be accomplished by prepending a "format" to the print job. The specifics for this are documented in the programming guide. This way all of the settings are defined for each print job. This will completely eliminate the need for any "permanent" settings.

I have a Z4m/sm400/105sl getting asame bblock error. I rebooted all, calibration and the same label keeps printing forever. It seems that nothng I do erases it from memory.

Disconnect the serial/parallel cable from the printer, it sounds like the print server itself is resending the label rather than the printer storing it in memory. Power cycle the printer after removing the cable(s) and you should be all set - but you may have to manually purge the job from the print server before reconnecting the cable.

Sent too many labels to printer - need to reset

As the previous expert has stated, with the printer paused, press the cancel key to cancel the job. One thing to note, is depending on how your software sends the print jobs, you may say print 1000 labels, but the software sends it one at a time, so basically you have 1000 print jobs in the printer. If you pause the printer, press and hold the cancel key. Hold it for about 2 mins. This should clear the buffer.
