Flapper in ice chute continuously freezing up after ice dispensed. Ice/frost formed after ice maker was thawed out to correct this problem when first diagnosed. Have to manually close flapper after light goes out and flapper interlock releases.

To make sure I am understanding you correctly, are you saying that
after a normal fill, water continues to drip into the ice maker and
freezes in the fill chute?? If yes, than replace the water valve.
If not then:
does the flap shut all the way? Sounds like you are drawing moisture
from the chute. The flapper should seat so that no air is being drawn
in. I have seen a number of these Kenmore where the pin and spring
retainer has broken off from the dispensor housing causing this
problem. They use to replace the whole freezer door because the
dispensor housing is not a servicable part. They have now come out with
a kit to address this problem. This is not a fun job for a first timer.
You may want to contact Kenmore and inquire about the aforementioned.
If this is your case, there is a good chance they will cover it.

The problem your having is that the door in the dispenser chute isn't closing completly and warm air is coming in, clashing with the freezer and the moisture in the warm air freezes and collects right there in the chute causing the ice build up. The more common parts that may cause this is the door flapper being bad or damaged, flapper soleniod, which helps the flapper doofr get a good seal, and electronic board on the dispenser itself.
Can you give more details?
If the ice chute is frosting up, chute door is not sealing, air , with moisture, is getting in and freezing. An ice cube getting trapped by the door will cause this also. Either case, replace door and delay mechanism.
I have a GE Profile PSW26P Stainless Steel Side by Side refrigerator that makes plenty of ice but will not dipense when the lever is pushed. The dispenser makes not sound when engaged. What do you think the problem is.
first check would be to see if the flapper door is closing all the way in the dispenser area. best way is to remove the ice bucket and shine a flashlight from the front up into the disp door area and look for light around the door from inside the chute.
another check would be to make sure the door delay mechanism is connected an not allowing the dispenser door to close to fast trapping a cubes in the door and causing an air leak in the chute..
Keep in mind if you use alot of crushed ice frost build up is faster than with just cubed.
Open the freezer door and look down the ice chute while you shine a flashlite up the dispenser cute from the outside. If you see light around the chute door, it needs to be replaced or something is wrong with the mechanism. The problem you describe is almost always air leakage around that flap.
