Picture & sound suddenly shut off. power light blinks red 5X...5X
The tv will turn on and within a minute the picture and sound will suddenly shut off while the green "power" light stayes on. I press power on the remote and the power light goes off. I press the power butten again and the power light blinks green twice and then blinks red 5 times, pauses, then red 5 times again. The power light will continue to repeat the 5x blinking red light until I press power again and then the tv will come on again for less than a mitute or so and the whole process repeats itself. The "lamp" light does not come on what is my next step?

Repairing Flat Screen TV - Blacked out with blinking red light ...Capacitors are little cylinders with a flat top with an X. If they have failed the X .... picture, no sound, totally black just the red power light blinking on the corner ... hello i have a dynex dx-lcd42-09 the red light blinks as soon as i plug it in i opened ...Missing: 5x
The
power light keeps flashing and the tv won't turn on. If you unplug for a
minute and hit the power button it sound like it is coming on then it
shuts off and the red power light flashes slowly. The TV is a Panisonic
1080i HDTV, about 6-7 years old.
Try connecting the TV directly to a different wall outlet and check. If the issue persists, try power resetting the TV. Turn Off the TV and remove the power plug from the wall outlet for 1 minute and reconnect it and check the operation. If the issue persists, then the TV requires service.
It could be the lamp went out and needs replacement. The Toshiba website states when this happens to unplug the televison for 10 minutes then plug back in. If that does not work then try another power outlet. If that does not work then call for service
I had a similar problem with my Phillips 42 in. LCD HD TV.
Here's the problem. The Power Supply Board. I opened my TV
up(warranty was up of course) and found several bad capacitors.
Phillips and several other companies were sold capacitors that although
were highly rated failed within 5 years because of a lack of
preservatives. All sorts of electronic equipment is now being effected
due to these defective capacitors.
Solutions?
1. Take it in and have it fixed
2. Open it up, check the board for faulty capacitors(bulged or leaking) Buy a new Power supply board and install it.
3. Remove PSB, remove faulty capacitors and replace with compatible new ones.
For the first one, please list the model number and count the blinks. Also, can you please post each problem separately. It will get too confusing trying to address 3 sets with different but similar problems.
Thanks,
Dan
