Our Kenmore 92274100 washer will not turn. It makes a little whining noise and will allow the water to drain, but no movement. Is it a belt problem? Is it too old to fix?

Hi,
Yes it sounds like a belt. You have made a good diagnosis. Belt are inexspensive, but can be a pain in the rear to install.
You doing the work or someone else??? If it's you then probably fix it. If youare calling in service, then get a price before the person comes and decide if it's worth it.
Also if you are doing it you can find the part online easily.
Do a search for "appliance parts" and then enter your model number in one of the websites.
They will have exploded doagrams so you can see how the belt goes and also a parts menu.
Becareful and check pricing on a number of sites as the prices can vary greatly.

I hope that this will help you to solve your problem!

Thanks for using Fixya!!

Should I be able to see water in the tub of my Kenmore 796.4027 washer?

different machine
the water spurts are operating as the drum rotates so that the clothes are evenly wet before the wash process begins
could be designed to use less water than previous models
make sure that the drain hose is at the correct level or all of the water will drain out
talk with a service agent and read the user manual for the operations and what can be expected

Kenmore 92274100 washer leaves lint on everything

Be sure to use higher water level on machine, don't overload machine Seperate lint givers from lint attractors. There is a lint catcher mounted on the bottom of the spin basket but it is self cleaning.

Kenmore 90 Series Washer Noise--Won't spin

For Tegres
If the noise is only when there is water flowing, check tighten the screws that mount the water fill solenoid valves to the case. The solenoids operate on line current so they vibrate at 60/50Hz (local suppply frequency) if they are loose at all, the noise is loud the body acts as resonators

For SRONEAL, that symptom describes coupling failure exactly, have you removed the coupling to check, often times the motor side hub is stripped, but there is no visible external damage
