The Keurig coffee maker keeps turning off on its own. Then we have to wait for the water to heat up again and sometimes it turns off right after the water is ready.

According to their tech support...

Remove the water tank and re-seat. Unplug for 30 seconds and replug.

Fixed mine this way with the same issue.

    You are all welcome...

I went through three of these machines before I could find one that would get beyond this problem.

Just keep putting up with the greef. After a couple of months the problem corrects itself...

WOW, that just worked for me too! Mine is brand new and brewed about 7 cups and then just turns itself off and when I turn it back on it will say "not ready" and then turn off again. I returned my last one for doing that and then about cried when my new one did it tonight. I decided to google the problem and found this. I took the water container out and put it back in and turned on the power and it immediately started to take in water again and stay turned on. I think for some reason the water was "stuck". I even called Keurig and they said to just return my last one.

Thanks! I hope this solves everything. I would hate to return it again. This is my 3rd one because my very first one was cracked!

Problem is a flow valve, older models have it before pump later models after pump. The later models have a metering spring that is in a flexible rubber housing and the spring is too stiff to allow water into the heating chamber. Not easy to get to to replace and clamp. You can get out by stretching the flexible line.Remove the spring and cut down until a light blowing into will allow water to pass but not too much so the backflow is compromised.

  • GramNona Jun 06, 2011

Tried the water tank solution...still kept shutting off. So...I tried another solution that someone talked about...I reset the clock AND I did a start/shutoff time. It has worked like a charm for a week!

I'm on my second one and I'm taking it back. I messed with it one morning for 20 minutes and it kept shutting off. Not worth the headache for a cup of coffe when you have so many other choices.

Mine was not staying turned on either. Very frustrated because I LOVE my Kurig. Removed the water holder, put it back and it worked perfectly! Thanks everyone!

We use ours at our office. the machine goes into this problem weekly, our solution is to have our office supply vendor (who we bought it through) bring a new one with our weekly order and we return the current one which I'm sure Staples damages out back to the vendor. This option is NOT ENVIRONMENTALLY SOUND!! But did anyone think these machines ever were? The machines are just as disposable as the K-Cups.

I have two machines....one to use at my daughter & son-in-law's when I come down every week, & one at my home. I took the older one to my home cuz it's noisier. It recently quit pulling water in - worked perfectly until then. I think I may have to have that one replaced.

However, I ran into the "turning off" problem quite early with the new one...what works for me is if I turn off the unit just as it starts to draw in water, & leave it off until I'm ready for more. I usually only have a large mug in the morning, so it's not a problem.

Hi,

Here is a tip that I wrote that will give you some things to try that will helpyou get your Keurig coffee brewer workingagain.

My Keurig b60 coffee maker is turning its self off and not heating the water right. I have turned off the atou brew and the auto off/on but the problem still happens. When we unplug it sometimes works....

you can contact Keurig at 1-866-901-2739 or Keurig.com
You do have a 1 year warranty, and if you are out of warranty. They will give a discount on a new unit.

Sorry to read about your issue.

The brewer should be de-scaled at least every 3-6 months. Scale is harmless, but if left unattended, it can hinder optimal brewer performance. De-scaling your brewer regularly helps maintain the heating element, removable water reservoir and other parts of the brewer that come in contact with water. Better water quality and water heating means a better cup of coffee, tea, hot cocoa or iced beverage. We recommend de-scaling your brewer at least every 6 months (every 3 months if your water has a high mineral content). The de-scaling process involves using 48 ounces of undiluted white vinegar.

Take 48 oz of white vinegar. place in tank. pretend you are making coffee (Do No Use K Cup). let the water fill you mug. then empty that mug. Do it again until tank is empty. then let sit for 4 hours.
Then fill with fresh water to the top. let that tank of water run thru. towards the end taste the water.
If you taste vinegar..use more clean water, until the taste is ok.

I tried to help you. Please help me and Vote/Rate this response. Thanks and good luck

After first cup is brewed, it shuts itself off and

No solution but we are on our 5th replacement from Keurig. Everyone has done exactly the same thing. It worked fine for a few weeks, than started turning off after brewing a cup. Like the problem states, the only way we can get it to work is to turn off and wait 15 minutes or so, then try again. Keurig has been great in replacing our coffee makers, but I really like it to just work.

My almost new Keurig (which I LOVE) keeps shutting down

I am having the same problem and will report back here if I find an answer. If I keep turning mine back on, wait for it to go off by itself. Turn it back on again...and again. Eventually I can get a cup of coffee. But my one-minute coffee cup usually takes 15 or 20 minutes.

Mine was a gift, so I'll probably just see if I can swap it out.

Cuz that's some good coffee.
