On most refrigerators the plastic grill is a snap on most service tecks carry a long
brush that looks like a cats tail to clean the condenser coils a long bottle brush will also work but be gentle the tubing is metal the fan is normally located looking from the front back left corner if you have a plastic putty knife you can insert on top behind plastic close to the side and easily pop forward very few units are secured with screws ron

Where is water filter located on amana fridg sxd22s2w, made in 1995/6 ?

Your model does not have a filter. You will have to add an inline water filter before supplying water to the refrigerator if you would like it to be filtered.

Not Cooling and Evap Fan Not Running

Two things come to mind. 1. Something got pulled loose or bent during the move. 2. Mice have made a home (binding up the works) or chewed something important.
R-134 is OK with the cold.

Water is not coming out

That is most likely the dual water control valve on the rear of your refrigerator. There are 2 coils, one side for ice maker and other side for water dispenser. I don't know your model number of your Amana but if you find it let me know and I will be able to show you the part number. Or enter the model number at site below. If you unplug the coils and check them with an OHM meter they should be very close to equal. Thanks, Sea breeze

Door open all day Amana SXD22S2w

the evaporator is clogged with frost, just as if the defrost heater went out. Two options, remove all food and leave ref unplugged and doors open for half a day, or remove the back wall(evaporator cover) and defrost it with a hair dryer.

Amana side by side ice maker will not fill with water

Old message, I'm sure you have solved your problem by now, but . . .
IF
Amana/Whirlpool conforms to wiring standards (no guarantees), the main AC wires should be white=neutral, black=hot, red=switched line.  Of course, they already depart with the use of the brown wire.
You should be able to access the 'full' switch at the ice maker itself and as you have found, it will turn on (or off) the fill solenoid.
It would be kind to post back what you found as it might benefit others in the future.
Thanks-

Water leaking from bottom of side by side refrigerator

The is a fairly easy way if you have a strong stomach.

On the back of the refrigerator, you will see a plastic drain line running to a pan underneath the box. This is the drain line for the evaporator condensate water. It is stopped up in the refrigerator section of the box.
Here is the tough part...Pull the hose out of the back until you can wipe it off with a clean towel and blow hard through the hose with your mouth.
By the way ...take your food out of the fridge...you will blow some pretty disgusting stuff out of the drain and into your desert if you don't. This will cure your leak.
Pssst...you can used compressed air if you are a wuss! lol
Good luck

Amana refrigerator water dispenser

could be carbon particles from a broken carbon filter cartridge. replace the filter and flush about 5 gallons of water before checking the water again that comes out of the dispenser.
