Plazma TV buzzing noise

I have recently purchased a PS50P91 Samsung 50" 1080p HD TV. The TV seems to makes a buzzing noise which comes from the back of the TV, however it is loud enough to hear from 3m away when watching low volume broadcasts like the news.

I have done some research and contacted Samsung but I'm unable to get a firm answer. I have been told things like room acoustics, TV distance from the wall and various other reasons can amplify the buzzing noise. I understand that plasmas do make a low level buzzing noise when on but it shouldn't be loud enough to hear over the TV.

Any suggestions?

Got the same problem here. Just bought a Samsung 50" PS50HD.

    Buzzing noise is quite annoying!
The "True Surround Sound" doesn't seem very "surround" either!

Buzzing noise is more worrying than annoying!
The "True Surround sound" isn't all that "surround" either!!

volume too low on samsung 50" flat screen. Volume ok but not loud enough. even though at "100" .Happened when programming remote (successful). The TV volume works at the bottom of the screen - same as remote - but can't get to the TV volume (upper right corner). Maybe have that set too low.

I had this problem and just fixed it its to do with the backlight, if you go into settings and find it turn it up to maximum and the buzz will go or turn of power save mode because it automatically turns the backlight to minimum which also makes the same annoying buzz

I have the same problem I can hear buzzing over the volume of the tv into the 30 range. I've had a tech out 3 times and he's coming out for a fourth. He's changed to power supplies and is bringing the 3rd next visit. From what I've read it has either to do with power supplies or grounding strips.

No picture and buzzing noise on Samsung HPT5054 50 in. pn51d530a3fxza HD-Ready Plasma Television

Are you just setting up a new tv or is this just a recent issue with a tv you have had for some time? I did find and interesting tidbit on the plasma tv's I didn't know, with regards to the buzzing noise, http://www.samsung.com/us/support/faq/FAQ00022542/22710/ with regards to the lack of picture, I would recommend that you look over your cords and check your connects, see if you can select input with your remote, if you can see the menu then the tv is fine and you just need to reselect the input that your video or whichever option you require such as cable or sat. If this fails let me know and I will do more research for you

Buzzing sound

You haven't specified where the buzzing sound is coming from, if it is coming from speakers, changing capacitors in the audio section will fix the problem, especially the filters. Now if it sounds like a hissing sound from back of the tv, the CRT base socket is the culprit. It is an easy thing to fix, and the base is cheap, but make sure you purchase the exact same type of base or it will harm the CRT. Good luck.

Buzzing noise, sound but no picture

It sounds as if the lamp needs to be replaced. The buzzing sound you hear is the ballast attemting to fire the lamp.
