ok -Are you talking about removing the small panel in the center/bottom of the tv or the whole back panel. Also, can you tell me which side of the tv it is on once I remove the panel and a brief description of the capacitor? Where do you advise that I obtain a new one?

Just turn it around and remove the back cover and take a peep inside. You will find some wax around a capacitor. The capacitor has burst and caused the pop. De-solder it and remove it. Get another of exactly the same specifications and solder it to the module. And happy viewing gain.

I would not exactly know where for your model, but the back cover has to be removed and the circuitry exposed to you. And a capacitor is a longish cylindrical thing jutting out of the circuit board. Since you heard a pop, I am sure it burst. Else it would have bulged. Also look for the bulged capacitors. If bulged, they too are gone. Need replacement.

Well, where to buy from??? Firstly, ascertain the exact Number of the component and you can try www.bestbuy.com or www.frys.com or any other electronics site. Or if your city permits then from a TV repair shop.

It sounds like a panel fault. Anyway, check this link. It has details with illustrations to Plasma display panels. Check them to that of your TVs, and make sure. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ Pull up previous posts there, either by its left side bar, or view it in Timslide option.
