I have vertical color lines, about an inch thick, one blue along right side, and one red, along the left side of the screen. Is this the beginning of the end?? I'v only had TV for 2 1/2 years, and have had no issues before. I still have picture, which still looks good, but have recently seen this vertical lines that now appear permanent. I had the same problem this morning when I turned on my TV. It went away after about 30 minutes. Does this mean it is the beginning of the end or could it just be fluke. Needless to say, a a new TV is not in the budget. I have had the TV for 3 years. Is this a common issue with LG only or with all plasma TVs?

I had the repair man out today. There is a circuit board in the center that controls the two side ones. There are two smaller circuit boards that then control each side separately. My problem was on the left side but the origin was a faulty main circuit board. He replaced it and it works great. [$600] He said the circuit boards cost the same, whether large main or small side. It only took him about 20 minutes. He said this is a problem with plasma TVs but that in the long run, you save by just getting it fixed rather than buying a new one. He also said that the new plasmas have more problems and are not as well made. He said if I was to replace my older projection TV with a plasma to get the extended warranty, as many years and I could afford, because I would need it. He also said that LG brand is a good brand and the problem is not brand specific. It is found in all brands.

I assume you mean that your screen is showing signs of stress 7 the picture quality is suffering. This would mean a replacement screen is needed & as this is very costly then it is more economical to buy a new TV instead.
Hello,
I have the same problem with vertical coloured lines on my NEC PX-42VP4G/S. The photo only shows a black background just so it's easier to see the lines in the photo but normally the picture is OK except for the vertical lines which aren't always in the same place.
If anyone can advise on exactly what I need to replace then I would be very grateful.
Regards, Simon.
If the Video (Picture/Pix) is gone but you can hear the Audio (sound), then it could mean the YSUS PCB Assembly is gone/kaput/finish. Can replace the PCB, not repair the PCB due to timing circuitry involve. Cost maybe roughly $500 depending where you located. The PCB is located on the left hand side of your TV when you are facing the back (Back open). Might find 3-4 brown flex membrane connecting to the plasma panel. The PCB has a silver or black aluminum heatsink (big) on it. Good Luck.
