There's a diopter adjustment control near the right edge of the viewfinder. Look through the viewfinder at a blank wall and adjust this until the focus marks appear sharp.

Hello Peter. I have just purchased a tx6470 and have had exactly the same problems.
Just subsitute the up/down buttons for hr/rcc.
The 1 2 3 positions are the channels that the outside unit transmits on,you can check this by looking at the inside display where it shows ch in the outside display.
Regarding the city code just make a guess to a large city near you, the British cities are lumped together London is Lon Glasgow is Gla Edinburgh is Edh.
The day Do. I did a reset of the date and it cleared to the correct day
To get the outside details to reappear, remove and refit battries from inside unit and reset everything.

I would not attempt to open the camera for any sort of fix. It has weather seals in place and would recommend sending it in to Canon. If you have any warranties left it would void these. Lastly this is a high proformance bit of kit and you want to get is seen to by an Authourised Canon Dealer.

As for the diopter adustment. To be able to see through the view finder and see your subject clearly, take of the lens cap aim the camera and turn the little dial until the screen inside the viewfinder is clear it should not be fuzzy. You are only looking at the screen/gring and not the image beyond. This does not affect your image but does effect how clearly you see your subject through the viewfinder.
