Westinghouse lcm 22w3 will cut on and turn off itself no screen image

Normally, monitors do not have tuning electronics for capturing TV signals.
Therefore, consider the monitor as a "dumb" unit that only displays information coming from your computer. Also, this unit does not have a HDMI input, but only VGA.
So, you are fated to have this monitor connected to your computer, always.
Now, you may find good software that will "tune" the TV signals from streaming at the Internet and show whatever is being broadcast. The same way you can access YouTube and watch videos these TV tuners will get the streaming signals the TV stations send via Internet (not all do that) and watch the channel in your PC/monitor
Since I do not have additional information about the computer you use I cannot give you other ideas

Yes, you will just need to have the right output on your cable box with some conversion. (eg. if you have RGB out of the back of the box you will have to get a break out cable that goes from that to VGA for the back of your monitor.

This is a very common problem with the LCM-22W3 monitors. The problem is caused by a failure of the filter capacitors in the power supply board. Here is a link to a repair guide that shows how to open the unit and what to look for and replace to repair the monitor. This is a very easy repair.

I suggest you test your computer by using a different known good monitor. If it works ok you will know your Westinghouse has a fault and if it doesn't you will know there is a problem with your computer (video card maybe?)..

Make sure that it does the same with other PC first.
You may have problem in the power supply section, look for bad caps first, the problem can also be bad lamps (I had to fix one today with bad lamps assembly). This unit is really hard to disassemble, the switch assembly is attached to the front section, so be REAL careful when the front and the back section come apart, see pictures here: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/Westinghouse%20LCM-22W3/

I did not fix the problem, but found out it probably is a power supply which is a very common problem with this design of this make of monitor. I think I need to get to get it fixed by a professional.

Try adjusting the monitor cable that goes from your monitor to the back of your computer.

Make sure that all three screws are removed from the back of the display. This is in addition to the four that hold the stand on.
