Dear Guru,
I have a JVC Digital Video Camera model: GR-DVL107E with a problem in record mode, it flashes “LENS CAP” on the display, even when the lens cap is OFF, and will not detect or record video giving a black screen on playback. Tape play back is fine for tapes recorded before this problem.
Any advice will be appreciated.
Thanks
Rod
Assuming you don't see any video through the viewfinder, it could be that the CCD has died on that camcorder. It happens, though not frequently.
If the video though the viewfinder is clear, there might be some sensor on the lens ring to indicate a lens cap, or an automatic lens cap not properly disengaging when put in record mode.

I'm having the same problem with a JVC GR-DVF31U camera. "Lens cap on". And I get nothing on the viewfinder either.
