I know this is an old question, but I have just fixed one of these. The problem was C104 inside the metal shielded section of the PSU. It's a 2.2uF 50V capacitor. Sony used an 85?C version rather than a 105?C (which I've used). Fortunately, no other components were damaged.
Most likely problem is deteriorated electrolytic capacitors. It's been a while since I saw the inside of a DHR-1000, but I do remember replacing several bad caps to bring it back to life.
