Hoover 500M top loading washing machine only goes one way when washing - it tangles colths around the agitator - previousl it would reverse after 1 or 2 minutes
The Brake-arm under the washer needs to be replaced it is a white plastic moulded to steel (U) shaped artical connected to an electrical solonoid with a split pin it is either cracked or the nib is broken off where it locates plastic cog on the main shaft assy.Hope this helps.
