  • jimjam1 Jan 21, 2008

HI!, We are a group of senior citizens,(average age 72 )that are going to bulid 10 computers to send to a school in East Timor. The cases ( Ultrix/Atrix High End) were donated to us along with a number of Motherboards etc etc.The Boards are not new and in this case we have more connection wires than we know what to do with.I`m hoping the user guide can help solve the problem. We don`t mind paying for help, but expense must go before a committee and that takes time.More time than some of us may have, thank you once again for your help . jim mcneilly

Here is a link to the ASUS download website:

http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us

In the upper left corner, you will need to enter either p4c800 or p4p800 and in "select category" highlight "Manual".

Hit search and it will bring you to all of the versions of that motherboard. Select yours and it will bring you to the manual download page. There are lots of options, just make sure you get the right language and you are set to go!

Does ASUS P4P800 deluxe support high density memories

Here is a link to Asus' Qualified Vendor List of RAM modules for your motherboard. I do not see it mention high density RAM. You would need to search the specs on the modules recommended to be sure.

ASUS QVL

In case you don't have the manual, here is a link for it too:

ASUS P4P800 Deluxe Manual

Memory info begins on Page 2-10. Again, there is no mantion of HD modules.

Wiring off the tower

The 2 grey wires with the 4 pin connectors would be for the USB ports at the front of the tower. They need to be connected to the motherboard usb pin outs. Usually marked on motherboard as "USB1", "USB2" etc. Generally the red wire should be the "power" and goes to pin1 or 2 on the connector. Pin 1 is normally marked by a thick line on the board at that end of the connector, but it's easier to say Pin1 is the opposite end to the single pin on it's own (which isnt used). You really should check the manual for the board to confirm the connections though.

Pluging in extra usb ports/Mic and headphone jacks from the tower

Answer me this. You're case is an Antec tower? The motherboard is the Asus P4P800 SE ? Is this correct?
If you have you're manual you can see what goes where on the board for front panel connector page. 2-31. (This diagram shows you how to connect the front mic & speaker).
To connect the Antec's front USB ports plug the case USB front connectors onto USB56 & USB78 shown on page. 2-30. Most case wires are already set within their USB connectors & the Antec's front USB connector should fit right on the mother board's pin's. If you need you're user manual, download from Asus by clicking on this link. http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?modelname=P4P800%20SE&SLanguage=en-us

Good Luck!

Mother Board connection

Go to the site below. Its a manual for the 800/i65GV group. Go to page 67 and zoom in. You'll get a nice look where everything goes. Two rows of pins. Upper row and bottom row. Real close to each other. Do not place connectors up to down. Connect only left to right.
The reset connector has two pins. One will be white or black. These are - grounds. So connect it to the bottom row onto the most right two pins. Moving to your left. Skip one pin. Take the Power Switch a two pin connector. Remember Black & White is ground & ground goes to your right for both rows of Mb pins.
http://dlsvr03.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/sock478/p4p800/e1324_p4p800.pdf
Go to IDE_LED next. Its the last two pins towards your most left of the bottom row of pins. Move to the upper row & the power LED. Same as the bottom row keping the grounds to your right. Lastly is the speaker. Its connector holds four pins but you only use two. One in each end.

Good luck & please vote....
