Side By side. ED2FHEXMQ00. Will not Cool.

Side By side. ED2FHEXMQ00. Will not Cool. Compressor clicks to start, runs for 15-30 seconds, then clicks off. Will Cycle this way yet no cooling. Fan is good, Coils are cleaned and setting at mid point on both freezer and fridge side. Prior to loosing all temp from fridge, could hear the thermostat click in at current temp as adjusting. Is overload or capacitor a problem on compressor. Compressor does get hot as it cycles. Let it cool and back to start, stop. with no temp change. Thanks for any assistance.

SOURCE: fridge not cooling

Most of the time on a whirlpool the problem is the relay on the compressor sometimes called the start device. I would replace that first. If you need help finding the part let me know. I will need the complete model # from the sticker inside the fridge section. You can look it up with diagrams at http://www3.sears.com/.

SOURCE: The starter/overload and overload protector

The easiest way to find this out , is to check the condenser. Make sure that the condenser is not clogged up with dust and that the condenser fan is working. Replace the start relay. Turn it back on. If it starts right up then it probably overheated and melted the relay due to the condenser fan not working or the condenser clogged with dust. Air circulation through the condenser and air being circulated over the compressor in how it cools itself. If the compressor will not start or if it runs for a little while and then shuts off from overheating, then you have a bad compressor.

SOURCE: replacing overload relay/capacitor on compressor of maytag fridge

replacing a start relay is very easy to do. usually its a swap the part wire for wire operation. in some cases you get a different looking relay but they normally have good instructions for the replacement part. if you'll post the model numebr fo your unit i can give you detailed instructions. thanks peyton

SOURCE: Whirlpool side by side does not cool at all

Simple Fix. That's cost around $40. You need to replace your relay/overload. Its mounted on the compressor. It should have a black box over it. Take it off then pull the part off the compressor and replace it with a new one.

I have a Samsung rs21!!! it wont cool in either compartment. when I plug it in the compressor fan does a quarter turn then stops. the compressor runs for about 30 seconds then cuts out? any ideas plea

most likely the start relay on the compressor that changes from start windings to run windings. the compressor will run for about 30 seconds on start windings then click out on internal thermal overload.
this can be confirmed by turning it on and letting it do the 30 second run then when it stops just wait and see if it cuts in and tries to run again (usually takes about 5 min) the second time it cuts in it wil most likely not run for as long (usually about 10 seconds). if this is what it does get a new compressor start/run relay.
as for the fan flick it with your finger and see if it spins freely.

Does not cool either side fan runs and compressor seems to run

2 possible issues. If compressor running, but not cooling - No freon in the system, or compressor valves are bad, not compressing freon. Ideal would be to check pressures on the system while its running. Could be some kind of restriction. most common problem i would guess low freon level. Here are 2 of my videos i have on my channel. first is leak found at evaporator coils. i used leak dye to find it, second video is replacing compressor, but had compressor completely down. installed 3-n-1 hard start kit, but compressor did not come on, so replaced compressor with filter drier. Hope this will give you an idea what to do next.

My freezer is not working properly with clicking sound.

The clicking sound is probably the compressor relay trying to start the compressor. When the lights dim, the compressor is trying to start and hence, pulling power from the rest of the unit. If the compressor has a start capacitor, that could possibly be the problem. If not, the compressor itself should be replaced.

Compressor comes on but does not cool below 54

Good day,
The compressor is not starting. Either the compressor has failed, or the starting devices mounted on the side of the compressor are bad.

The parts mounted to the side of the compressor, are the overlaod protector, the starting relay, and on some models a start/run capacitor.
These items can be removed from the compressor, and taken to an appliance parts house for testing. You do not have to go to Sears. If the parts check O.K., then the compressor (a major cost item has failed).

P.S. If this machine is under 5 years of age. leave it alone. Call Sears for service. The compressor is under warranty for 5 years.

MY KITCHEN AID SIDE BY SIDE FRIDGE IS NOT COOLING. tHE COMPRESSOR IS HOT AND APPEARS TO BE RUNNING. Please help. Frank

1.The fan motor at the compressor must be running to keep the compressor cool.2. If you hear a clicking sound at the compressor, that is a indication of a bad compressor start relay that must be replaced.

Condenser not running

Hello,

The condenser you are referring to could be the compressor. If it is clicking, that means it can not start. Let it cool for a while, unplug the unit. You may need to replace the starting components at the side of the compressor. This could be faulty. But if after replacing it, the compressor would still not start, then you have a bad compressor.

Check also the front lower grill, remove it and check the condenser if it is dirty. This is another cause of hard starting compressor.

Refrigerator and freezer not cooling properly

you have a deffective compressor the humming that your hearing or the clicking is the relay on the compressor trying to start the unit, the compressor is stuck and cannot start, leaving it unplugged lets the compressor cool down, but as it tries to recool the unit it gets orerheaated again, thus the bad compressor

Fan runs but no cool air on both freezer side and cold side

If you hear the compressor try to start then click off, you probably have a bad compressor or a bad relay. If it is less than 5 yrs old the compressor is still covered by warranty and will be replaced free of charge. The relay is only covered for a year. With it being a Maytag, I bet it is compressor. There have been a few models with control board problems that have caused this symptom, but that's not likely to be your problem.
