solution to your hp psc 4210 printer (scanner problem tick, tick sound) is, open the scanner cover with glass, remove the scanner bulb unit and clean the glasses, mirrors with lint free cloth (available in photo studio/optical shops) do not use any solutions. then fix the unit firmly and switch on the printer, the problem will be solved.

Go to -Start-There should be "printers and faxes".Click it,on the left side is "other places",under that heading is "scanners and cameras".Click it and it will bring up your scanner.Click to highlight it,then click "get pictures" in the left column. This will initiate the scanning process.
You can also get there thru "Control Panel" if printers and faxes isn't available in the start menu.Good luck!
The problem is not in stop sensor. It's in scanner section. The scanner is not initialization couse inside in section has a to much ash on mirrors and the scanner lamp.Replace the scanner section or clean up it.
hi Clean the upper part of the scanner glass with soft cotton cloth. Ensure their are no visible marks on the glass.
If
the printer power cable is connected to the surge protector, connect it
directly to the wall jack and then perform power cycle on it.
Follow the steps below to power cycle your all-in-one:
1. Verify that the unit is switched on. Unplug the all-in-one from power and disconnect the connection port. 2. Wait 30 seconds. 3. Plug in the power only. 4. Repeat steps 2-4 two more times. 5. On the third time after plugging the unit into power, reconnect the connection port from the all-in-one to your computer.
After performing power cycle, you need to perform semi-full reset.
Press and hold Cancel and the Left Arrow key on the front panel keypad, while plugging in the power cord. Put the printer as stand alone and try copying any normal document by placing it on the scanner glass.
Issue
persists check if the scanner bulb is glowing and also able to move. If
the scanner bulb is either not moving or glowing, the problem is
related with hardware and needs to be serviced.
I opened the scanner and found that the cold-cathode lamp is failing. Moving the optical assembly away from its home position (to the middle of the scanner) allows the unit to initialize so at least the printer works.
I'll investigate availability of replacement lamps.
You may have to reset printer. Directions as follows:
Re-initialize the HP All-in-One
Force the HP All-in-One to reinitialize by following the steps below:
Turn the unit off by pressing the ON button.
Disconnect the power cord.
Wait five seconds, then reconnect the power cord.
If necessary, turn the unit back on and try fax again.
If the unit fails to read the card again, reset the All-in-One. Repeat
Steps 1 – 4, but before plugging the unit back in, press and hold the #
and 6 keys on the HP All-in-One numeric keypad. Continue to hold these
keys down for a few seconds after plugging the unit back in to reset
it. Once the All-in-One reestablishes communication with the computer,
reset the language and country/region.
Check Paper light flashes but there isn't a paper related problem
The check paper light may also flash if there are other problems. Verify the following conditions:
Verify that the print cartridge door is closed.
The print carriage may be jammed, follow these steps to correct the problem:
Open the print cartridge access door. If the print carriage can move, it should move to center. If the print carriage stays all the way left, unplug the power cord and then plug it back in. This will reset the unit and may allow the print carriage to move from the left.
Disconnect the power cord from the all-in-one.
Remove both print cartridges.
Move the print carriage left and right slightly to verify that the print carriage will move freely. If the print carriage will not move freely, check for obstructions.
Close the print cartridge access door.
Plug the power cord back in.
After the all-in-one initializes, the print cartridge light will flash. Open the access door and install the print cartridges.
Close the print cartridge access door. If the problem returns, remove the print cartridges and wipe the electrical contacts before reinstalling them.
Try to make a copy. If the all-in-one pulls in paper but cannot make a copy, there may be a problem with the scanner mechanism. Contact HP for assistance.
