PC was shut down for several weeks and power was removed from unit. After restoring power, unit would not boot. The back-lit power button is flickering. One of the two status lights below button remains on, this is not typical (The lamp with the "Battery or Cylinder" object next to it). The internal speaker beeps for two seconds at five second intervals, this is not typical, it should beep once, quickly, at boot-up. There is *NO* video, no Hard disk or CPU sounds that are generally associated with booting. CD Drives spin up at first, then ceases. Floppy drive doesn't check for disc as it should (There is NO disk in the Floppy Drive!). Hard disk has power and is spinning, CPU recognizes RAM (indicator lamp on Mother Board). Unit is receiving 115VAC @ 60hz from wall. Fans are running.... Help, Please!

Not sure if mine is the same, or just similar problem. I have a Dell 3000. It worked just fine before moving to Korea. Went to plug it in here and no power to the tower. It will act like it wants to boot up, or will boot up for a few seconds and then cuts out. Thought maybe it was the crazy wiring here, or the power strip I was using so I tried different outlets and got it to work in one that is extremely inconveniently placed. It was doing well for a week until I decided to try to move it to a more convenient location, and alas there is no power again. The power indicator light stays green and blinking, the other two lights on the front will flash green for a sec and then the whole thing peters out.

If the beeping is never ending, the problem is likely that your ram is faulty. check your bios manufacturer and check the beep codes for the particular beep you are hearing.

If you want to keep your important data, use some softwares can solve thewindows won't startproblem most quickly, and no data will lose. Besides, it is very easy, even the people who lack of computer knowledge can deal with windows won't boot issue.
If you do an illegal shut down which is power off by holding down the power switch for 8 seconds. The HP computer will then boot with the scandisk program, which will restore your hdd to perfection. Windows XP or later now use 'system restore' to rearrange registry from a previous calender date that the computer used to work perfectly.
the cpu could be over heating make sure its secure if you like get some thermal paste from your local pc world put a little on the top of the cpu under the cpu fan and replace fan securely might work be carefull....bonnell
In Windows XP
Click Start
, All Programs
, Accessories
, System Tools
, System Restore
. Select a windows restore point from a time when the computer operated properly, and then restart the computer.
In Windows Vista or Windows 7
Click Start, type restore
in the search field, and select System Restore
from the list. Select a windows restore point from a time when the computer operated properly, and then restart the computer.
If
the computer does not boot into Windows, you can restore the computer
settings to an earlier point in time. Turn on the power and press f8
. On the Windows Advanced Boot Option
screen, select Safe Mode
and boot into Windows.
Update Windows, the BIOS, and HP device drivers
If you want to get it back to the original settings without the latest patches, turn on the computer and hit <Ctrl> and <F11> together when the blue bar displays with www.dell.com during the boot sequence. If you miss the timing, let the computer boot-up then shut down again and retry. This will restore from a compressed partition on your hard drive. Thus anything you have added (programs/files) will disappear. Do not power down during the Restore sequence or you could end up with an unusable machine.
Use the Windows System Restore if you just have a bad driver.
Sounds like a Windows issue. Depending on how valuable it is to you to get your data off the drive, I would suggest buying a new hard drive (they are fairly cheap these days), installing Windows on that. Word of advice: Remove your old drive when doing the Windows install, so as not to accidentally select the hard drive your data is on. Once you have Windows installed, shut down your computer, remove the power cord, and install your old drive on a separate IDE channel or SATA connection. If your PC still tries to boot to the old drive, change the boot order in your PC's BIOS.
Boot In Safe Mode By Holding The Power Button Till The Unit Forces Shut Down Then It Should Give The Safe Boot On Start Up. Now In Safe Boot Find System Restore And Restore To Before The Problem Existed. Hope This Helps
That shouldn't affect the laptop booting, hold down the power button for 10 seconds, it shoul boot up., if not then remove the battery and replace it. then try it again, good luck, Gym
I have the same exact problem, I bought a new power supply unit, did nothing.
