I am having the same issue, I think the best solution is to replace the inverter slave and master boards. These are the circuits that controls the backlight and causes the flickering when they are malfuctioning.

Vizio vo37l backlight rapidly flickers when dynamic contrast tries to dim the display

I agree that the problem is most likely on the inverter board. I repaired a Vizio 42" LCD with the same problem, it was bad capacitors on both inverters. Cost $2 to repair. Take off the back cover to the set and check the capacitors on both boards. If they have bulging tops, that's your problem.

I have a phliips hdtv lcd model 47PFL7422D/37. the left side of the screen is darker than the right. The screen started flickering. like a strobe light. any suggestions????

Hi, Yes unfortunately i know what it is. When repairing another make of hdtv one time, I used a different " BALLAST " for testing purposes-it was a little under powered to say the least-but i knew this-it allowed me to determine the bulbs were good. when the bulbs lit using my makeshift apparatus-HALF of the bulbs lit up lit up( dim on one side as well as some flickering! ) therefore you have a power supply that drives the backlights that is going "SOFT". Let FixYa know whatever else we can do to assist you. good luck. Prodzilla. P.S. there is a workaround you may try to give more life to this soft power supply, if able,go into menu and adjust brightness down a few notches until it evens out and stops flickering. Again good luck

Vizio television screen flickers like a strobe light

lcd sets use florescent tubes to light the display and, a ballast to power the tubes just like the lights in an office ceiling.
the tubes are called cold cathodes and, the ballasts are called inverter boards. replace your inverter circuit board it connects by wires to the cold cathodes so; isn't hard to find.

Voltages do not dance around and should be constant and within stated parameters.. The board producing those crazy readings is the issue.
