I have an Ingersoll Rand 80 gallon, 5 hp compressor. The motor recently burned up and I replaced it with a new one about 1 1/2 weeks ago. The new motor now has burned up also. Could there be a problem with...

Hello,
Yes it could be running (turning) hard which will make the motor pull high amps. If you installa new motor make sure to check the amps while running to be sure that the draw is not over the name plate spec. Could also be that you just got a bad motor... believe me it happens more often then you would think...

I am assuming that you have checked the oil in the compressor and that the level is okay...

The oil fill plug broke on my Ingersoll Rand R 242-5n

Remove it and try a NAPA auto parts store. If they can't help I'd try Graingers.

What is the amt of oil ingersoll-rand 242-5n air compressor need

I don't have the manual for your compressor, but if you drain the oil and then measure the volume of the drained oil, it should be about the same.

If you are wondering about the quantity of oil to purchase, 2 quarts should be more than enough.

Thanks,

TIm
