My monitor works fine for weeks than suddenly just goes black! I turn it off and back on and it only stays on for about three seconds than goes black again! The power light stays on!

take off the monitor data cable from pc and try to turn monitor on if appears a smal square on the screen that mean your monitor is ok , and the black screen reason maybe data cable or vga card.

note : your monitor resolution is 1680x1050 some times wrong resolution cause like this problems

AL1706AB (Black) LCD Monitor: screen wont stay on goes black after couple secon...

Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed ACER monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Monitor wont stay on- blue light is on. but screen keeps going blank.

Have you tried the monitor on another computer? If so, and it works, the issue is with your graphics settings on your computer. LCD and plasma based monitors often come with a protection circuit that disables the monitor if the synch or refresh rate are beyond it's capabilities. this is to protect your monitor from damage.

Do not exceed your monitor's max resolution.
Resolution is determined the following way:

Width x Height @ Refresh Rate
For your model:
  • Max Resolution 1440 x 900 @ 75Hz
More detailed information about your monitor can be found HERE. If your monitor is still under warranty, and you find it to be faulty, you may be able to send it to the manufacturer for repairs.
