I lost my driver for canoscan D646U ex.... where can i download the driver which is also compatible with windows Vista? Please help.

    Thank you for trying but still cant download. OS is Vista and it is not included in the choices. Canoscan D646Uex is also not in the list only Canoscan D646U.

    Hie - I've searched the net and am unable to find a D646U ex driver for vista. Feel like throwing out the vista OS and using the previous one as nearly my gadgets are uncompatabile, etc.

    Does not work with Windows Vista OS. I lost the software cd, and I can't find the correct download online for Vista.

Using the Windows XP driver MAY work. However, the D646Uex is not officially supported in Windows Vista. There is apparently some functionality limitations that prevent it from being officially compatible.

Use your XP driver first to install the scanner, windows will install the driver. then appear message saying it won't start or something like that. ignore it, then open the device manager. you'll see the canoscan is marked...click it, then update the driver automatically using internet...

the driver will be updated then your scanner will work just fine. i just installed it in my vista SP1...works perfectly as it should

May I gate the "Canon CanoScan D646U ex" vista driverthrough this site?

Hey, even tho this is post post a old, I still wanna tell something,
Ive just downloaded the XP drivers and used windows standard installer for usb devises, and it worked all fine.

XP drivers works fine on Vista

From the official windows site: cano scan 646 doesn't work with vista. So buy a new scanner or ask canon for a solution

If Canon does not provide a drive for Vista, then you cannot use the scanner with your Vista system.

I had the same problem with certain hardware when I upgraded from Win98SE to XP Pro 64 bit. I set up my computer for dual booting so that I can run both Win98SE and XP Pro.

Eventually I purchased compatible hardware however.

CANOSCAN D646U NOT HAVE DRIVER FOR WIDNOWS VISTA
Try to run windows vista in compatibility mode. If you can't find the driver for it, even under driverguide.com, this is about the only other thing you can try.

That is because their is no VISTA driver written for that model,because that model was not made for the VISTA OS. If you were told it would work,they were wrong. It is unlikely that CANON wil ever have a driver written for VISTA for an older model,but it could happen,especially if enough people wrote to ask for it?

Driver download
Dear Sami Kotaich,

unfortunately your Cannon has not released drivers for vista for this product.

I can give you one suggestion; connect your scanner with vista PC and atleast let it try to install necessary USB drivers. once it has been done you will see message your hardware installed or there was a problem installing drivers for your hardware and it may not work properly.

now leave scanner connected and go in start menu- programs- accessories- paint

once you are in paint click on File Menu then From Scanners or Cameras. if it does recognize and you get scan wizard then you will be able to use your scanner on vista. but if it doesn't recognize then I am sorry you might need to get more authentic recommendation from Cannon support.
