No memory card will work in my Coolpix camera

I have a Nikon Coolpix 3200 camera and it will not read any memory cards. I have tried multiple cards and none work. I can take the card and put it into my card reader and it works fine. What can I do to get it so I can use external memory again?

I have a 256 MB Sandisk and I had used it before and now it won't recognize it. I haven't been able to use it for several months, but now I'm needing to use it again.

Nikon has tested the following cards and approved their use in the Coolpix 3200:

SD memory cards:
SanDisk 16/32/64/128/256MB
Panasonic 16/32/64/128/256/512
Toshiba 16/32/64/128/256MB

Other brands and capacities of cards may work, but Nikon cannot guarantee their operation. Check with the manufacturer of the third-party card for compatibility information. Nikon recommends keeping one of the approved cards available for troubleshooting.

Multi Media cards (MMC) are not recommended and should not be used.

New Nikon Coolpix W100 does not properly read new SanDisk Ultra memory card. It shows only 2 shot capacity on 64 GB card. Tried multiple cards with same result.

That camera should handle SD,SDHC and SDXC memory cards. Small cameras do not typically show capacity. You shoot until it is full. One way to test the capacity is to take a long movie. My larger DSLR will tell me how many shots I can store with the current resolution. My Coolpix cameras do not show this information.

Why wont my toshiba sd card read on my camera nikon cool pix ?

Make sure your memory card is an SD card and not an SDHC card. If it's larger than 2GB then it won't work with the 3200.

My memory card wont read on my camera

they aren't compatible for instance your camera will only recognize cards up to 1 gig and your card is a 2 gig card, or your card is bad try it in something like a computer. possibly your camera is bad try a very small card in it and see if it works.

I have a nikon coolflix l18 i am reading (memory card is write protected I would like to know what it means and what should i do? Thanks

Take a look at your memory card. SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

If that doesn't work, try another card.

MEMORY CARD

Hi there.

This may be easier than you think.<grin>
SD cards can become accidentally locked. Double check your card. Take a look at the side of it. There will be a little switch. Make sure the switch is in the unlocked postion and see if that's your problem. Let me know if that doesn't help.

System error showing up on Nikon coolpix 3200

A System Error is a general error which can be caused by many things: lens problem, CF Card problem, general camera failure, etc. Before sending the camera in, check these:

1. Use the memory card that originally came with the camera (or a Nikon approved card)
2. Remove and replace the battery

If the error is still displayed, contact Nikon's Service Department (below). If the above tips do not help the camera must be sent to Nikon Service, there are no user serviceable parts on Nikon Coolpix cameras.

Memory stick

The 3200 uses SD cards. It will not work with SDHC cards.

Flash memory card

Perhaps it didn't complete formatting. This happened to my mom and I tried her card in my camera and it wouldn't work there either. We had to replace. You might take it back since you just bought it. That way, you will know if it's the card or the camera.

Switch on - Switch off! Coolpix3100

Coolpix uses SD cards, not CF. Anyway, try using the camera without memory card, only with internal memory. If it works, then replace memory card.
