IBM T21 black display, power is on, fan is on, hdd is working> 3 beeps-3 beeps-1 beep. what is wrong?

  • erstversuch Dec 21, 2009

    Thank you Andrea,
see thats my problem: my beeps are not listed there.
I have 3 short beeps, again 3 short beeps and than 1 short beep. I looked in different beep-manuals but I don't get the right answer there. One beep-manual said: Dimm> I changed DIMM> but still these beeps.

It makes three beeps and the fan will be running and the power light will be on no screen display when you leave it running and switch off and on it works fine

check out your memory ram, try to replace it and switch on again,..also check your cmos battery, if it is low, then replace a new one....last options are to check and change the processors..try it

Thinkpad T21 Boot Problems Problems

This is caused by a system board failure. Take the laptop apart again and check all of your connections. Also make sure the ram and processor are seated correctly. You can also try hooking up an external monitor to see if any errors display. This may be an indication that the video cable connected to the system board is not fully connected.

From IBM website:
Two short beeps - System board failure
