Problem is same for both LG CD writer and SONY DVD writer and is as follows:-
System P4, win Xp prof, 80 GB HDD, 128Mb RAM...
Both the above units were working fine. Not used them for quite some time and when i tried to burn a CD/DVD now, problem is..even though a new empty CD/DVD is inserted prompts insert a CD/DVD.. When I right click and go to properties , shows both used space and Free space as zero . Same indication with a software CD/DVD also..
I have this same problem but i have an acer aspire 3000 and i have already enabled the cd recording and it still wont read the blank dvd-r what else can i do

Type of media settings might be the issue but making a
change for standard CD/DVD recording (it affects reading too) Issue can
be resolved. Right click on the CD/DVD drive (Usually D or E drive ) click
on properties and select and choose the recording option. Click the
enable CD recording for this drive option
Click
on apply and OK. Try again. You may try after reboot the computer. If
issue persist please post so we can think about some alternate
solutions.
