I have a LG PC1DV Plazma and every now and then the picture will freeze, the sound continues on and you cannot change channels. the only way to un freeze is to turn off tv wait 30 sec then turn back on and try to quickly change channel, otherwise it re freezes. Cheers phil

analog board is most likely cause. Especially if you cant shut it off or change channels when it freezes.

If it is digital TV, change antenna(UHFonly), and change position of the antenna to get less inteference of digital signal. Signal strength is the TV station carrier frequency, does not help digital video signal integrity. Often if you change channels will reset the digital signal cache and get better pictures.

Sounds like the problem is with channel 9. Is it an HD channel? Are you using cable, satelite or an antenna?

Most likely what happened is one of the capacitors went bad. When a capacitors goes bad it produces a popping sound. This could be an easy and cheap fix if you find the bad capacitor or capacitors. The bad capacitor will have a bulging top most likely on the power board but could be anywhere.
