I have a 32" Vizio LCD HDTV in which the volume is messed up. At first I could still hear the sound but there was a buzzing noise that alternated with a high pitched noise (sounded like a tornado siren) now there is no sound from TV only the high pitched noise. This noise goes completely away when we press MUTE.

Hi, Question shows it is Vizio L32 lcd tv and symptom shows back light inverter board for defective for some reason and loud noise would be popping of any chip on inverter board. Shopjimmy..com has replacement boards of that model on reasonable price and local tv repairman will replace defective board after checking/ testing the tv. Hope these info will help. Thanks.
hi, check ur tvs audio setting. go to menu and check the same. change the settings according to u what u prefer. their are too many sound modes. select on suit to u. ok
It ur Vizio tv,The power supply board is the problems. The transformers in the power supply board have gaps in the transformers. The high voltage curents flow that make that buzzing noise.
our brand new Vizio 32 HDTV has poor sound quality, so irritating in it's flat muffled character that I can't watch it. My electrical engineer husband as attempted to change it (he does not hear the difference between the Vizio and our two Sony...there is a BIG difference) by turning off the surround sound. But to me nothing has changed. What do you think? it sounds a little bit like an old radio or a broadcast from inside a closet. Hmmm
It's not the speakers. I usually hear of this problem when hooked up to an HD cable box. You can adjust the volume on the cable box and also on the TV. I'll bet you don't have this problem when watching a DVD.
If the problem is what I think it is, your HD Cable box is set at a really low volume while your TV is set to a rather high volume. Try setting the TV volume to around one-third, then set the volume on the cable box until it's as loud as you'd ever want to hear it. With the TV at such a high volume, you're actually amplifying any stray electronic signals that the wires might be picking up, and the above solution will fix that.
