there is a high current passing to the car set when increasing the volume there for the resistor within the car set automatically gets protected. better check the wire lines again.

Unfortunately Kenwood codes are only available from the Main Dealer or
by using a Radio Decoding Service who will connect a laptop to read the
working code inside your radio`s memory chip (EEPROM)

when you put the mag in does it try to load? ie does the cd select the trays?
if not then it sounds like you have a faulty unit and will need to get it repaired.
