The pixels are scanned and organized in an X-Y matix. One of the control ICs has gone 'thermal' and unfortunately on many (not all) sets these circuits are placed by assembly robots as an integral part of the display panel making it very expensive to replace since the pin spacing is too close for anyone to manually replace them. If you have peered inside anyhow, get a couple cans of 'freeze spray' and try look for ICs attached to the back of the display panel and shoot them individually for a second or two, allow some time for the internal temperature to change before continuing while checking the screen for changes. If you can correct (less likely will it worsen) with the spray, you have the right one or two chips.
