Replacing a Craftsman wired garage entry keypad.

It actually depends on what you are trying to program. And these instructions apply only to openers that do not have dip switches on them.
Remotes: push don't hold the colored learn code button all models have different colors. After pushing the button hold the remote behind your back and push it three times. On the third time the door should run.
Keyless Entry: Program the code you want into the keyless. Push the colored learn code button and then enter the code and push enter three times slowly. on the third time the door should run.
Home-Link. Hold the two outer buttons until the blinking pattern changes. Then hold the button you wish to program and point and click your remote at it. Push the colored learn code button and push the homelink button three times.
There are two models of the Wireless Keyless Entry System, the 740CB and the 940CB. The 940CB is for use only with Security+® garage door openers having an orange/red smart/learn button. The 740CB will work with all openers manufactured since 1990 that have a yellow, white, gray, or green smart/learn button. It will not work with Security+® openers.
To program the keyless entry, first locate the smart/learn button. On our chain drive models, this button is on the end farthest from the door. On our belt and screw drive models, it is on the right side as you face the door from the opener. You simply press and release the smart/learn button. You now have 30 seconds to enter your four digit PIN number into the keypad and hold the enter button for five seconds. Wait one minute and test the keyless entry by entering your four-digit PIN number and pressing enter.
With some Security+® models, you can also program your Model 940CB Wireless Keyless Entry without climbing a ladder, right from your Multi-Function Control Panel. Simply enter your pre-selected code and press and hold the enter button on your Keyless Entry. Then press and hold the light button and the pushbutton on your Multi-Function Control Panel. The garage door opener lights will flash to confirm that the Keyless Entry has been successfully programmed.

If the following instructions don't work and you have a good battery the keypad has failed.

Locate the smart/learn button on the rear of the motor unit near where all those white wires go. Press and immediately release this and then walk over to your keypad and key in your 4 digit code and press enter.

The door control does not require programming. Make sure one of the wires hasn't come loose and also try loosening the top screw on the door control. If it is too tight it can cause a problem.

Sounds like your receiver which is part of the logic board has quit. The wall control is hard wired and doesn't use the receiver.

The ports are spring loaded and should hold the wire without any further ado.

simple ;find the smart button on the opener and pressit ,their will be an indicater light next to the smart button that will remain lit ,then go over to the keypad and put your 4 digit code in example1234 then press enter on keypad and hold down for 3 seconds until garage door opener lightbulbs shut down and come back on , and thats it simple as pie! when the lights go on and off on your machine it,s telling you that it has received the code that you just programmed into it , guaranteed to work everytime , Thank you for letting me help you Sincerely Glenn mayer

Simple ,find the smart button on your machine ,it will be where all the bell and infrared wires are connected ,which is also the logic board of the machine , this smart button is usually brightly colored /orange /red /purple / green/ when pushing this button in for a second or two makes a small led light lightup next to it and it will be a solid light ,at this time you want to go to your keypad and put your 4 digit code in and then press And Hold the Enter button until the lights flash on your garage door opener , those flashing lights on the opener are telling you the machine has recieved the code from the keypad , See told you it was simple ,you,ll have no problems ,just follow my instructions to the letter and it will work , GUARANTEED ! yes. Press the learn button for 8 seconds to clear the remote memory. Reprogram all remotes and keypad

First try changing the battery in thh keypad 9V. if that dos not work just moving the wire coming from your opener towards your keypad. DONT CUT THE WIRE OR ADD TO IT. That should take care of it

THE FREQUENCY OF THE UNITS ARE PROBABLY NOT COMPATABLE THEY CHANGED ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO.

SORRY - I THINK YOU NEED A NEW KEYPAD TO GO WITH THE NEW OPENER.
