Vivitar 8225 camera wont work its showing a screen msdc and a red led, manual says green led, cant get any thing else to work etc, and the red light is static, any ideas the vivitar website is **** no help there

Try to go thru menu and do a factory reset?

The MSDC indicates that the camera has recognized it's connected to a computer.

The red light indicates that the camera's battery is charging.

I have the exact same problem...hope we get an answer.

That simply means that the camera is connected to a computer via the USB.

If it's new, take it back.

I just called the help desk. MSDC and a blinking red light means that it is charging. It takes 6 hours to charge and you are not to take disconnect it from the USB until it is fully charged. Once it is charged the blinking light will turn green.... not sure whether it will still be blinking or not. This is what the lady on the phone told me so I haven't been able to try it out yet, but I will update if I call again.

This is a Manufacturing problem.There is absolutly nothing that can be done to fix it other than to send it back. This same thing happened to me twice. A lot of Vivitar cameras have this problem as well as many others that are usually not the consumers fault. Just a glitch in the technology. I alone have gone through four Vivitar cameras in the last six months. The best thing to do is contact Vivitar directly. My roommate had the same problem, pretty easy to fix. Make sure your memory card and battery are all the way in and they should lock. If you lost the booklet, the positive/geative signs should be on the bottom right when sliding it in.
