I SET THE INTAKE VALVE AT .005 AND THE EXHAUST VALVE AT .003 AND THE EXHAUST VALVE MOVES ONLY HALF THE DISTANCE OF THE INTAKE. IT IDLES OK BUT GIVE IT SOME GAS AND IT BACKFIRES THROUGH THE CARBURATER AND SHUTS DOWN.
Though the valves are adjustable, in a grinding cutting kind of way- they require the valve be removed from the block to do so. So no actual adjuster. The good news is, this "L head" engine doesn't have the same issues as the OHV family and rarely ever need valve service at all. Are you having difficulty Technical Support ' Hotmail Support
Remove the cover for the valves by the spark plug and adjust both valves at .008 gap That will end the back firing. They have locking nuts (double nuts) at each valve to adjust
