Insignia blu-ray player only plays music cd'

This unit worked ok for 4 months, but now will only play music cd's. When I insert a blu-ray movie (the same ones that I watched on the player when I bought it..so it's not a firmware issue), the door closes and the screen says loading, then the cd is ejected w/o playing or error code. Arrrgghh. The player makes a noise when trying to load, but doesn't when I play music cd's. Weird.

Please, please help!

I would need to know which Insignia Blu Ray player you have to get a better idea of what potential problems you may be experiencing. Model number should be NS-XXXXXXX.

It sounds like the loader is failing, the lens is scratched/dirty, or the firmware isn't performing properly.

Recomendations:

Try using a Blu-Ray cleaning kit to clean the lens. Don't use a CD or DVD cleaner kit since these are too harsh for the Blu-Ray lens.

Try updating the firmware to the latest version by going to www.insigniaproducts.com and searching for your model number. Updates allow for more functionality of your player as well as greater compatibility with Blu-Ray discs and other disc formats.

Hope this helps!

My Insignia NS-WBRDVD2 will not play the HD DVD-s...why

This Blu-ray player will not read HD (high density) DVDs. The format is not the same as a blu-ray. You would need an HD DVD player. (if you can find one - they are rare.) If you are having trouble reading specific Blu-ray discs, you should check if there is a firmware update for the unit on the Insignia site. Start at http://insigniaproducts.com/ and look for downloads for the NS-WBRDVD2.

The NS-WBRDVD2 reads Blu-rays, DVD-ROM, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD-R, DVD+R, CD-R, CDDA (audio CDs), CD-RW, MP3, MPEG4, JPEG. Discs burned on DVD recorders/computers must be finalized to be played on the unit.

The manual for the unit is available from Insignia here: http://insigniaproducts.com/cms/documents/NS-WBRDVD2-WBRDVD2-CA_10-0745_WEB_ENG_V4_Final%20lr.pdf .

I hope this helps.

When i try to play a movie, display shows"no

Hello,

It is probably the lens, there might be some dirt stuck on it. Use a CD lens cleaner, it is available on any CD/DVD stores. You just basically insert that CD lens cleaner into your DVD player, hit PLAY and then after around 2 minutes, it's done cleaning.

The blue-ray movies will not play,,, dvds play fine i have sharp BD-HP21OU,,, I went to your sight and down loaded the firm ware it play the disc onetime and after that no more my player is only 2 months...

This can happen that the movie will play once just fine and then have problems the next time. You have to go to the blu ray player's menu and down to system reset and complete the system reset before attempting to play the movie again. You can also hold down the power button on the front of the unit until it says reset. You will need to complete the one from the unit though to get the movie to play again. If that doesn't work you may need to send it in for repairs or return the unit.

Will not play new movies. Keeps rebooting to previews

If you are referring to "new" meaning recent releases, there was a change in the DRM and authoring scheme that was created by the releasing publishers. Several Blu-Ray players are having issues with this and solutions are being rolled out as quickly as possible.

The Insignia Blu-Ray players have solutions available as firmware updates on:
www.insigniaproducts.com

Search by your model number and download the latest firmware to a USB stick, insert into the player, follow the instructions, and you should be good to go. you should also receive updated applications like Netflix and Pandora.

Hope this helps.

I need to upgrade my blu ray player - won't play new blu ray discs

If you are using the BRDVD there is only one update and it is a few months old. They are adding new security features to new Bluyray discs this month and all players out there need to be updated. The unfortunate side of the BRDVD is that Insignia is refusing to update the player although Funai(the comany that has made the player for them) has released a update that would work with it with little work by insignia.

To help get this player updated it would be good to go to the forums here and post that you still use this player. We got a update the first time so it should be possible to get another.

Good luck and enjoy this little player.

Will not play new movies. keeps rebooting to previews

There is one new firmware available here:http://insigniaproducts.com/products/dvd-players-recorders/NS-BRDVD.html

just download the firmware and follow directions to install it. One problem is that Insignia will not do a new update so any movies coming out with the new security feature on new Blurays will have problems playing.

Visit the insignia forums and post some messages or write a email to help get our players running for at least a little longer.

Thanks and feel free to comment with any questions at all.

The player will not play new movies

There is no charge for the BRDVD firmware although Insignia has been bad about the updates. This play is made by Funai and has several sister models.

Insignia has only released one firmware update while Funai has continued to support the products and has plans to support it for a unspecified time to come with a firmware update that just came out on March 1st.

Here is a link to a support page for all the models by funai including the Insignia BRDVD:http://forum.blu-ray.com/blu-ray-players-recorders/48943-funai-bd-player-owners-thread-magnavox-sylvania-insignia-etc.html

Here is a link to ingnia where you can find this models main page as well as firmare updates and instructions telling you how to install them.

On a side note please go into the forums and look at the messages for updates on the disc problems and such. We are trying to convince Insignia to stick with their customers and update the player as Funai is so we can get some use out of what we paid for.

Hope I helped and enjoy your BRDVD.

Insignia blu-ray player only plays music cd's. Ejects BD's.

Try to clean the player using a bluray cleaning kit. Dont use the dvd cleaning kit as a few can cause problems. Look at packages and see if they can be used on blu-ray players.

If this does not fix the player call Insignia immediately as the laser can be broke and will be expensive to fix. These players have a one year warrante so you should be covered

Plays CD but not DVD, says no disc

HI.This will occur when the optical assembly becomes unstable. this ((Whole One Piece)), assembly incorporates the spin/load motor, optics housing /arm, tracking device and tracking rail. This is connected to the loading dock assembly. This 'NO Disc' or CD NOT PLAYABLE, code is the result of a failed or burned out lens. It is possible that you have a dirty lens cap. you can try using a cleaning disk in this case to confirm actual lens failure. if the cleaning doesn't restore normal reading capabilities, this will confirm my diagnosis.

You will need to have the optical assembly replaced in this case. once replaced, your unit will be able to read and track once more.

DVD internal player not playing movies, will play music CD's and the like

Generally speaking you could squirt alcohol in your cat or dog's eyes and that will solve the problem.
