Just purchased Milano NETBOOK for my daughters xmas. Cant connect to wireless internet at home. Connection is fine with my Laptop. Her wireless is turned ON. Everytime i search for available connections i get 'No connections found' message. I know that we have at least 10 connections within range.

there is no problem with the battery in terms of the connection. Battery only supplies power to turn on the laptop. if the battery has malfunctioned and wasn't able to turn on your laptop, you can use your laptop's power cord.

the issue here, is that you can connect to the internet. all she needs to do, is go to Network Connections, chose the wireless connection, clicked Properties, scrolled down to Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), go to Properties and changed the setting to 'Obtain an IP address automatically' then applied the changes.

make sure you put the correct password in, re do the connection and retype the password, thats what it sounds like

your virus software may have blocked your internet connection when connected to your network if you have nortan it intends to block internet connections when theres a threat on your internet connection just uninstall your virus software and install it again.

In you r network adpater setting;Set the router IP address as your Default Gateway IP address
and In the primary DNS setting put the DNS address your Service provider.

No, it's probably because you have setup a wireless home network with security in place.

Go through the settings on your husband's notebook settings for your home network and set your Dell up the same way. You will need to know the SSID for the wireless network, security type and key to set it up.

The wireless configuration is set differently on routers, eg the SSID, and encryption. You need to configure the wireless LAN card in the laptop to connect/communicate with the different routers.
Some wireless LAN card allow you to setup different profiles/settings for different wireless routers. Eg one setting for the office and one for home, which allows easy connection to the Internet by selecting the appropriate profile/setting.

have you installewd the drivers for the modem ? if you have go to desktop and click settings got to network settings open this up it should show any connected networks if not click new connection then go throught the proceedure you can try the first internet connection if not try the advanced option for the wireless.. make sure you installed the wireless drivers as well a it wont work without these.. you may have to go to your routers ip address and see if you cant configure it to work or maybe your router can only support a certain number of wireless devices.

if your netbook doesnt have built in dialup modem that mean u cant connect it to a dial up connection. most of netbook in market use wifi as primary connection or sometime comes with built in GSM modem to connect to internet. that meanc the option you can try is to buy a external USB dial up modem
