I replaced the battery in my 910 which tomtom said couldn't be done. When i did somehow all the maps suddenly need to be unlocked again. No longer have codes. Tomtom said could get no help since i opened the unit.

TOMTOM IS THE ONLY ONES THAT CAN HELP U HERE, WE HAVE NO ACCESS TO THE MAP PACKAGE UNLOCK CODES, U CAN PURCHASE THE MAP SOFTWARE AND RELOAD THEM FOR AROUND $50 FROM BEST BUY AND ON LINE.

Format the Tomtom hard disk
Logon to Tomtom home and carry out an update
When it has completely finished updating copy the map directory back onto the root of your Tomtom hard disk.
This action forces the Tomtom home site to completely update the program on your Tomtom to the latest applicable application.
This may involve updating the the bootloader as well as the Navcore software.
The maps will go straight back on ok as they should already have been initialised for that device.
Most new Navcores now incorporate the Quickfix which enables the sattelite signal to lock on quicker.
Regular visits to the Tomtom home website will update the quickfix data which really needs to be done weekly as the data expires.
Pressing the reset button also renders the old Quickfix data useless.
If the above does not work then I suggest that you have a hardware problem which would require a professional repair.
The only other way to get maps is to look for third party map files. Sometimes they are free. I've not tried to find one for my tomtom but have for my magellan. So if someone has done one then you just need to search the web for something like tomtom map download and the area covered.
Letting the battery run down will not fix it, so recharge it. I suspect your maps have become corrupted or at worst deleted. Reinstall your maps from the CD or by contacting TOMTOM and quoting your licence number for a download. Leaving GPS in car subject to extreme heat will danage the card and often the maps. Gloveboxes are not exempt either as they often reach over 50C when car is left in the sun. ( assuming it is summer wherever you are)
change screen settings. here's how to; goto change pref, -safety pref- (ignore first screen)-done-- done--done--then it will come up with---turn off map display, select never option then done , you will also need to check to see if your screen saver option are set to slide show and turn these off as well.
You must ensure that your volume is not on mute. You need to tap on where the words are, not on the map, until the volume slide bar pops up. You may have to tap in different places until it does. If your volume is set normally, you need to check on which voice you have picked. It's under the options. Pick a different voice and test out the directions.
Map updates for your TomTom GPS can be purchased and installed through the TomTom HOME GPS manager program. You will need to download and install the TomTom HOME software onto your computer.
i knew tomtom 910 the best gps . so that why i buy it , but some time has bloplem i need help . if any want gps i recomender that buy the tom tom 910 is work for that money cause i got 1 year and now i bether and knew many new location .
