Usually when printer give this type of problem the indicator lights blink continuosly; this is indicative of serious ink cartridge issue. Usually when this happens the printer fails to goes through the motions of the printing process, kind of stands still with indicator lights just blinking away. This could be as a result of either of these scenarios.
i. Ink cartridge has developed incompatibility or is incompatible
The Solution is to try an older/another cartridge (doesn’t matter if ink is finished. You must replace cartridge one at a time). If lights stop blinking it confirms that your cartridge has become incompatible or developed incompatibility. Also if your printer is the type that can work with only one cartridge, remove one after the other (closing back the lid/cover) to determine which in the set (black or color) has become incompatible. At the instance the incompatible one is removed and you close the lid, the blinking will stop (for printers that can print with one ink cartridge only). Just replace the incompatible one and start printing again. In most cases the issue is always with one cartridge. But if both are affected, you have to replace both. Because of this type of problem, always keep used cartridges somewhere safe; they come in handy for this type of troubleshooting.
ii. The Cartridge electronic panel is dirty
The electronic panel on the cartridge that makes contact with the cartridge carrier inside the printer is dirty and needs cleaning. This electronic panel is front part of the cartridge with copper “dots”.
The Solution is to try to clean this panel with a piece of folded tissue paper soaked in a bit of methylated spirit. Also try to clean the area in the cartridge carrier/holder that makes contact with the cartridge’s electronic panel (Usually this is more difficult). If you cannot reach it with your fingers, use a stick or something with tissue wrapped around it. Allow to dry well and return the cartridges, close the cover. The blinking should stop if the electronic panel is the issue. Once the blinking stops the printer will print.

The ink absorber is almost full.

Hello Ink absorber is a pad under the print head area, in the bottom fo the printer that collects excess ink from the machine.

The machine will need to be taken apart, you need to remove the old ink absorbers either wash and dry them for few days and then replace them into the unit or puchase new ones.

After that is done the waste ink counter will need to be reset.

Manual for Service mode
1. Turn off the printer. And disconnect the printer cable.
2. Press and hold the POWER button, turn on the printer.
3. The indicator (L.E.D.) should be green.
4. Press and release the RESUME button , the indicator (L.E.D.)
should be orange.
5. Press and release the RESUME button again, the indicator
(L.E.D.) should be green
6. Release both buttons

if that doesn't reset it look for other suggestions athttp://www.fixyourownprinter.com/forums/inkjet/52198
and google - http://www.google.com/search?q=PIXMA+iP1800+ink+counter+reset&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:fi:official&client=firefox-a

Or to save some fustration and headache just take the machine to canon service center to get it serviced, the end result will be much better.
Hope this helps, if so do rate the solution Good Luck

Ink absorber is full

Waste ink is full. The printer needs servicing. Can be done yourself, though EXTREMELY MESSY! And you'll need to find how to reset the counter, or just look here:

http://www.fixya.com/support/t1987764-canon_mx310_wase_ink_full_any_ideas

The waste ink pad is a huge and dirty job. It requires nearly full disassembly of the machine and full washing and drying of the waste ink pads. Resetting the counter without cleaning the pads will result in waste ink overflowing out of your printer and on to what ever the printer is on. As for printer disassembly, service manuals are not generally available for consumer grade machines, which means you're on your own. Having torn down many machine's myself I can tell you it takes time, patience and a good memory. Take good note of where everything came from and how it goes back together.

How to replace a print head on a T2265 sprint pro

Tally Genicom T 2265 Printer print head. The following information regarding Print Head is taken from Website. Please go through carefully. Print heads are very sensitive from the type of ribbons you use. These textile tapes, used as consumable in dot matrix printers are made by special technologies. They are impregnated with ink and special oils, which lubricate the print head wires during printing. While print head works, the quantity of ink and lubricant in ribbon exhausts, and the quality of printed matter gradually declines. When this quantity goes down below certain limits the ribbon begins wear to threads. These fine textile fibers mix with cellulose filaments from the paper and form a dark gray dust. This is a sure sign that the ribbon is dangerously worn and must be changed with a new one. Otherwise you will soon need a print head repair service. Still not satisfied about those points, please get in touch with local authorized printer service engineer to set right the issue. Have a Nice Day The same problems you may have with "old" ribbons, because after time the lubricants and inks get dry. The usage of "worn" or "dry" ribbon leads to difficult movement of the printhead's wires, its quick wear or crush. If you wish to use your printhead for a long time without any problems, you must use a quality ribbons with an original guarantee. Never use re-inked old ribbons. This surely guides you to print head repair or to buy a new one. It is a good idea to read the User's Guide for your printer, if you have not already done so. If you don't succeed in finding it, then carefully look at your printer and try to find the lever for printhead positioning, it controls the printhead gap. You must adjust manually this gap in correspondence with the number of printed copies.

Printer message is: used ink tank is full. Q. where is it...and how do I empty it?

The waste ink tank on Canon printers is the ink absorber which holds the ink used during Print Head Cleaning process. When the error message indicates that it is nearly full, Canon indicates that the printer should be taken to the nearest Canon service center to replace the absorber. There is no supported "do it yourself" replacement for this piece of the printer. As per Canon:

This printer has an ink absorber that takes in ink during the printing and print head cleaning processes. The cleaning process is necessary in order to keep the print head nozzles from becoming clogged. Over the life of the printer, the amount of ink that the ink absorber has absorbed is calculated by the printer. Eventually, after substantial use, the printer will enter an error condition when the ink absorber is nearly full. At this point, printing is still possible. Press the <OK> button to cancel the error. You will still be able to print for a short period. To protect the printer from damage, you will not be able to print at all once the ink absorber is full.

Canon recommends having the printer serviced before the absorber becomes full. We are aware that there are many "do-it-yourself" Web sites that offer instructions for making this repair. Replacing the ink absorber is a complicated and potentially messy procedure. Even if the ink absorber is successfully changed, the ink absorber counter must be reset. Be aware that if you attempt this procedure, it is at your own risk.

If you feel your product might require service, Canon has excellent service options, and we are eager to provide any assistance you may need. Click the link below to locate an authorized service facility and obtain further instructions.

So, to answer your direct question directly, if the message said "nearly full", you can press OK and continue to print for a short time. If it indicated it is full the printer will not function until Canon services the machine and resets the printer.

If this information assists you in resolving the problem, please take a moment to rate the solution at a "FixYa" level. If you do not feel that you can rate at a "FixYa", please post back with more information regarding what has occurred subsequently and/or more details regarding the situation, and I will gladly help you until we have reached a definitive solution. Thank you for using and rating FixYa!

Check that your black ink cartridge has ink inside, eventually try a new cartridge , as ink may have dried up in old cartridge.
If you use a new cartridge ensure you removed cellotape from cartrige.
If cartridge is ok, then it is printer nozzle/head for black ink.
In this case do nozzle check / head cleaning in printer tools a couple of times.
If problem persist you may need to check and clean printer's head with cotton and solvent.
