The problem you are experiencing is closely related to the dreaded RROD (Red Ring of Death). It has the same causes and solutions. I suggest getting an experienced person to repair your console for you. Take care that no one is doing the "Towel Trick" instead of an actual repair.

While tv was on picture screen turned black and sound was still present, Before that TV screen showed lines near the bottom of the screen. this is for model 32A60

sometimes a loose crt socket is probobly caused this defects try checking its connections

This is a very common . The cause clearly evident bellow.
The good news it that it can be repaired Permanently with a
proper X clamp mod , The hardware responsible (The X clamp)
is still currently being used in new and replacement units .

No menu

Try booting it up without a game in it. It will autorun a game, and skip that screen.

Check your sound connections to your TV, also you will have to select the proper Sound Out in the sound options. Make sure its set for the type of cables you're using.

Hi

when you are using DVD, there is no problem directly indicate the problem is in video game. You can try by changing colour system of the TV (PAL,NTSC etc..) or the video game to fix the problem.
