Do the flashlight test. Shine flashlight on front of screen at angle and see if you can see an image or lettering. If so, it is probably inverter board. Let me know first if you have an image.

If the monitor power light is on or flashing, but nothing displays, borrow a monitor from a friend. If that works, your monitor needs replaced.

Dell E173FP 17 monitor went dark and not working. I restart the pc it shows for only few second and went out again. I plug in one other monitor in my pc and it work fairly well. So something not right with...

Hi!

There are three possible cause why your monitor went black and start working..

1. If your monitor is dead set.. no reaction or lights turn on after power on.. then it needs to check if there is blown capacitor in its power supply section..

2. The high voltage ballast transformer of the backlight inverter is burned - it needs to be replaced so that it will not have a direct effect on the power supply section of the monitor.

3. The backlight inverters are all busted - the backlight was located at the upper and lower back edge of the monitor.. If these lights are busted then all that will be seen in your monitor is black screen.. It will need to be replaced so that image display will come out from your screen..

These 3 reason and its solutions can only be done by yourself if you have the knowledge, proper skills and the right tools to open the back cover of the monitor and replace the problem parts....

Otherwise, bring your monitor to a credible technician and if there is warranty,, avail of this...

Hope that answer your question..

Much appreciated if you rate this help..thanks..

Describe your Dell E173FP 17" LCD Monitor Problem The monitor seems to be turning itself repeatedly on and off. No picture is ever seen, the screen stays black with a slight flicker.

Sounds like the monitor is cycling power.
Try plugging the monitor into a different power socket. Try not to use the same power bar as your computer

No picture on monitor

Nothing. Power supply faults in there. Open the monitor and replace all "popped" electrolytic capacitors - they're causing the power supply get overloaded.
