The S/N (Serial Number) should be stamped into (or printed on) a small metal plate, usually rivetted on to the side of the generator housing. It should list model number, s/n, horsepower and wattage ratings as well.
If it's missing, I'd contact whomever you bought it from, (if you can find them - these aren't removed unless they don't want it traced, eg. stolen merchandise).
