You need a ATA-100 (EIDE) 3.5" hard drive. Then you need the jumper set to slave or cable select (if you have the two drives on one cable and the original drive as the master). See your manual for details on the procedure. You need to open the case, remove the cables from the original drive and lift the drive holder out of the case to insert the second drive. The manual is available here: http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/model-documents.pl?mdl=PCVRZ24G (see page 44 (57 as the pdf reads) and on) . Then slide the case into place and connect the power and data cables to both drives. Then go to the drive management to format the new drive and prepare it for use.
For XP, go to My Computer, then Manage. Then Select Storage and Disk Management. Then select the new disc for formating.
Have you tried this website, they have all your drivers in there

hold the power button down for 5 secounds, then turn back on . if you can get the bios load up page try pressing f12 or f8 constantly untill u get a menu to boot computer in safe mode and try tunring this power saving off and restart.
Did sound work without a sound card previously? If so then try going into device manager in control panel and righyt clicking the sound icon and make it check for an updated driver.
just open up the side pannel of the pc then find the hard drive unplug it from both cables the power and the data cable then put the new one in same as the old one came out *be sure to make sure the jumper is in the correct setting ex. single or master* then just start up the computer and put the restore cd into the cd drive and it should work fine after the setup is complete.
