We noticed that our 5yr old side by side Frigidaire ref. is making a vibrating/humming sort of noise that lasts only a few seconds, it vibrates the floor throughout the kitchen...we cleaned it all over and under and the coils under it and vacumed the back and everything and it still makes a vibrating sound in the floor that you can hear and feel throughout most of the first floor and in the walls on the second floor above the kitchen....what can this noise be.....could it be its uneven, on the floor.....it just started doing this about 4 wks...ago....and it seems to be working fine otherwise....
When a fridge is first installed it is important it is adjusted to stand level and firm. If it was transported upright and hadn't been laid down it could then be switched on but if it had been laid down during transit or during installation it should be left to stand before switching on - some authorities say four hours and others say longer.
Failure to do either of these things can cause accelerated wear of the compressor and that could be the reason for the humming noise and vibration.
A friend has the same problem with his fridge and he freely admits it was never properly levelled. It began vibrating years ago for a short time when it starts but apart from that it continues to work quite well.
Just to be on the safe side of fairly sure, it would be a good idea to check the security of the compressor and fixings...

Finally called a service technician. He said the compressor was bad and needs replacing. Fortunately, I'm in the 2nd - 5th year of my limited warranty so parts and labor are covered. He also said that the FRS26R4A is "junk" and it helps to support his family.

Hey Joanne, I appreciate your inquiry!
Based off my understanding the freezer side of your Frigidaire refrigerator is making a loud humming noise. The humming sound could be coming from your compressor. If the sound is a new development it may be a possible issue with the fan pushing further against the wall. You may need to seek help from a professional technician for proper diagnosis and repair. This will help you from purchasing any unnecessary parts. Hope this information is helpful to you. -Matt
