My machine refuses to copy many of my VHS movies to DVD, saying copying is prohibited. I bought the DMR-EZ47V to copy some of my 1000 ex-rental VHS tapes which take up space I no longer have. Do I now have to throw my DMR-EZ47V in the rubbish??
I have exactly the same problem and want to copy about 100 tapes looks like a wast of money if I cant find a crack that will allow me to do this I have exactly the same problem and want to copy about 100 tapes looks like a wast of money if I cant find a crack that will allow me to do this
Converting VHS to DVD with a DVD recorder is quite easy. You need a DVD recorder, a VHS player and your VHS cassette, an RCA or S-Video cable. For more and you can click into the tutorial.
The write-protect tab on the cartridge is set to "PROTECT" or the disc is protected witht the "DVD Management" settings.
Some video tapes on the market(including rental videos) are copy-protected to prevent illegal reproductions. Copy-protected video tapes cannot be properly recorded.
You cannot use the copying function when the FUNCTIONS window, the Scheduled Recording List screen, etc. are displayed.
I hope this information can be of some help to you all. Ms Tanya 2/12/08 3:54AM CST.

You don't state the manufacturer or model number in your question, thus we cannot answer. I will say that many do, but there is a caveat. If the the VHS tape is a commercially made movie, chances are it has copy protection on it. Most machines will sense this copy protection and will refuse to copy the protected VHS tape to DVD. This was done to prevent piracy. Home recorded tapes and non-protected tapes will usually work ok. Do not confuse write protection with copy protection however. Write protection is merely the tab on the tape that prevents re-recording of the tape. Copy protection is recorded right onto the tape itself and is read by the machine during playback.
the problem is dvi incripting the vcr has detected that its connected to a unit that may copy images to another therefore breaking copyright law try using an icp breaker to stop the dvd from talking to the dvd it works every time
Yes, that's mostly what I use mine for. You actually copy your VHS to the Hard Drive, then copy from your hard drive to your blank DVD. I'm about 1/3 of my way through reformatting my VHS library (800+ tapes.)
I find that after 2 years of using my Sima CT-200 GoDVD that I can no longer recored movies from my DVR player. I get an error saying copywrite and shuts off my DVD about 30 seconds later
Dirty heads or the recording was from a different brand VCR and the Panasonic cant get the right tracking. Try manual tracking just a little in either direction to you get the right one.
Insert the VHS and rewind or fast forward to the point you want to begin copying from.
Insert the disc you plan to use and format it if necessary. It will usually prompt you if it is necessary to do so.
Put the television on the channel or input needed to view the recorder on-screen.
Select the DVD drive and set the record mode you prefer - XP, SP, LP or EP.
There are two things you can do:
1. Press and hold the dubbing/copying button on the recorder itself in the direction of the DVD for 3 seconds. If you are using a DVD-R/RW or +R you will receive a message stating to press Play to record without finalizing or press Record to record and finalize. If you are using +RW or -RAM, these cannot be finalized - therefore this message will not display.
2. You can access the Functions menu and go to Copy, then select the copy direction VHS to DCD and select Start Copying.
