<span><b>A DE Error Code is indicative of a "Door Error". This indicates that the washing machine </b></span><span><b>door is not shutting, locking or opening</b></span><br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Is this happening mid-cycle or at the end of the cycle?</span><br /><br />If this is happening mid-cycle or at the end of the cycle, try powering off the unit and unplugging it. Leave it unplugged for about five (5) minutes. Plug the machine back in, power it on and see if the door latch releases. If it does not, service will be required.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Is any item caught in the door?</span><br /><br />If an item is caught in the door, this could cause e DE error code to appear. Unplug for about five (5) minutes. Plug the machine back in, power it on. If the door will not unlock still, it could be that the item caught in the door could be pushing up or down on the door, preventing the latch from unlocking. May need service. <br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Has unit been paused in cycle to allow item to be added?</span><br /><br />During the Cycle, the unit will draw in hot water to help activate detergent, even on a cold cycle (no damage to clothing will result, as it is a small amount). When the unit is paused, if it detects that the water in the unit is to warm, it will not unlock the door immediately (takes a minutes) This is a safety feature.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Is the door or gasket warped or damaged?</span><br /><br />If the door is warped, it will prevent the unit form latching or locking properly. This can result in DE error code. Also, if the gasket is damaged it could cause this problem as well. Make certain the latch on the door is not broken. Refer to warranty policy to determine coverage under the LG warranty.<br />
open the filter and you will find coins or some form of objects that has gone in to the wash by mistake unseen!! empty out the filter and put on wash and it will be fine! if there is water in the drum make sure you put bucket that will fit under filter to catch the water when opening the filter! or if there is a rubber tube you can drain water out from this till empty but this will take time! good luck and dont get wet
put outlet hose on ground drain water out ,then between the handle and the manchine theres a hook put something there to pull it towards u and it will open but its not easy , but is for me
Thanks for using FixYa. DE is a door open error, you’ll have to check the door if it’s properly closed. Also check loose electrical connections at the door switch and PWB assembly. If everything appears to be fine then it is the door switch assembly that should be replaced. Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.
hi well this is a bit long so if you can bare with me i will try explain how to , clear system to decode, and recode as this is what it sounds like that the coding has gone from the ignition key....ok here goe's
to sync key with car
depress lock or unlock button
manually lock the drivers door within 30 seconds of the above
system should now work....if not do next bit
switch ignition on ( using non chip key )
manually lock drivers door using key ( another one, hopefully you will have more than one)
press unlock button 5 times, in one second intervals
indicators flash 5x for every time signal is received
switch ignition off and remove key
that's the de-programming done...
to de-program the system if above fails..........
switch ignition on ( use key without remote )
manually lock drivers door using key to be synced with car
complete the following within 30 seconds of doing above
within 5 seconds press the unlock button on key
indicators should flash once
wait 5 seconds
press unlock button once to confirm programming
vehicle should unlock
this also will confirm deactivation of programming mode
switch ignition off remove key..that should be it, then try new programed key in ignition.
to re-program system and sync with key
switch ignition on
manually lock drivers door using key ( another one, hopefully you will have more than one)
press unlock button 5 times, in one second intervals
indicators flash 5x for every time signal is received
switch ignition off and remove key
that should be it, if no joy then will have to main dealer i am afraid...hope this helps
* Door not all the way closed * Loose electrical connections at door switch and pwb assembly(Control Board) * Door switch assembly is out of order(Miss aligned) * Gasket on door may be creased in
Most common issue here will be a defective door lock switch. check all causes before replacing the switch.
I have a (2009 )WM0642HW.The new ones don't have the Forced Water Recirculation Nozzle that's in the top of the door seal. LG quietly (discontinued) that feature. If you do see a WM0642HW with a spray nozzle in top of the door seal in a showroom somewhere, it was a WM0642HW manufactured ( assembled ) a long time ago.Currently produced WM0642HW will not have the Water Recirculation feature installed. There may still be some older version "new" WM0642HW units out there somewhere? But most of them are display models or unavailable ,and with a shorter motor warranty. 7 years instead of current 10 years on new versions of the WM0642HW.But getting back to your question, the washer fills by water entering the cylinder through the back top left side of drum as it flows from the dispenser compartment via a hose. The opening is right behind the cylinder baffels location. It has no fill nozzle at the front gasket edge like some other brands have. My washer did not clean well at all with full loads. Only after i turned the water level switch under the top lid "clockwise" a half turn ,does it now fill up to the bottom of the door rubber seal.My clothing now tumbles in a pool of water instead of a WICK WATER RUB WASH that it was doing previously. It's a 100 times better with the few gallons of extra water inside, BELIEVE ME. What i say is from experience with this exact model.Turn up the water level so it can tumble in some water. TRUST ME ON THIS ONE! You'll have nothing but grief until you've had enough and have the desire to turn it up alittle.Just have it set to fill to the bottom of the door gasket.Everything will be saturated at the start of the wash and not towards the end of the wash segment.
